Yesterday I could not figure out what I wanted to play, and got the recommendation in the BAA chat to pick a game at complete random. The random game that ended up getting picked was "Ride to Hell: Retribution".

First we have the main menu. A nice looking one, and for the subtitles One PercenteOne perce is set to "on" by default. How considerate.

The game is quite clearly a play. One with a an alright budget at least, just look at the amount of smoke they used to obscure that the scenery was flat cardboard

If you've ever seen Queen of the Damned, you'll know by just looking at him that the main character is a vampire (please don't watch Queen of the Damned, it's not a good movie). This might be considered a spoiler by some, but it's just too obvious.

Sadly somewhere along the way, they realized that doing all this might have made them go over-budget, so instead of buying expensive props to act as machinery, they just painted the floor black at some spots, so that you could imagine there being machines there. They also played some rather realistic machine sound from the speakers.

Sadly the crew that was supposed to build the stage got high and forgot to put in the stairs that they promised, so our hero could never reach the second floor.

And thus ends my playthrough of Ride to Hell: Retribution. Not with a bang, but with some missing stairs. At least the floor was there.

Well, have a bump, thanks for the photo-story! :D

edit: Oh it's removed and probably rare, nevermind. ;D

They sold keys on Amazon up until a few weeks ago. Sadly, they've stopped doing that now :(

It makes me sad too, I gave it away about a year ago as a joke. Now I wish I had kept it and gotten to enjoy the terribleness

At least without the stairs we don't need to BUMP in invisible walls.

"so instead of buying expensive props to act as machinery, they just painted the floor black at some spots"
But was that cost cutting, or was that an artistic choice a-la Dogville ?

Oh, good point! Someone should ask the devs what their vision of that scene was.

Always wanted to feed this masterpiece to my PS3. Thing is, I'd propably die of embarrassment if I were to buy a physical copy of RtHR at a store. IiviI

That's why you order it online, and ask them to deliver it in a non-descript parcel.

Do I also have to send in a paper confirming that I'm legally sane? :p

Yes, but only an insane person would sign a paper saying that they're sane in order to get this game

It's basically so infamously bad and broken that you really start questioning your life decissions, if you're seriously considering spending more than 5€ on it. Especially when there is a possibility that your rl friends (who know what RtH is) could find out about this purchase. IiviI

I remember seeing this a few years ago (thanks to Funhaus under their old name) and it was hilarious. Never expected it to get removed from the store though. There are a lot of broken, horrible games on steam but at least this one was kinda funny for it. Oh well.
Thanks for the gib ^^

The publisher probably did not want to have to deal with tech support and actually putting money into fixing the game any further.

Since I saw you playing it and it was only 3.50 € I had to get it myself ;) Guess I'll install it tomorrow and check how hilarious it is.

I had to reload as there was a bugged enemy upstairs, and that was when the room with the shadows on the floor and nothing else in it, and the stairs disappeared. No idea how common it is, but whenever I reload the issue is still there.
