Yes, you can, plus you might get the base games as tradeable copies. Cheers!

he meant that if u purchase game of the year edition and use it on an account which already has a base game u might get copies of the base game on the inventory because u didn't use the base games on the game of the year editions.

You will not get the base games tradeable games unfortunately as they are treated as two separate games, and you will have both GOTY and standard editions in your list of games.
But save games will work fine as they are read from my documents
Have fun!

The GOTY / Ultimate edition(s) are cheaper, but they count as different games.

I don't think they are? I have both complete editions and it shows me as owning the base.
The Batman games are different, they are this way. They are like that on Live though, which probably forces Valve into doing the same. Fallout 3 is only one game on Live, the GOTY just includes DLC.

My brother owns New Vegas and New Vegas Ultimate Edition. Shows up as two games.

So I have both the 'base' editions of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas (NO DLC, JUST PURE GAME) and I have a dilemma. So basically I would like to purchase the DLC'S for both games as I have none of them. Seeing as the 'GAME OF THE YEAR EDITION' of both games give you the DLC'S alongside as the base game. Would I be able to purchase the Game of the year editions to get all the dlc as it is much cheaper than buing each DLC individually. So I could get the dlc cheaper?
Thanks,
Steve
