So, first win on the site: Sol Survivor.
Seemed like a good win. A tower defense, one of my favorite genres.
Sadly it was not meant to be. While not a bad game it didn't really connect to me. I vowed to give it another try down the line, maybe I had Tower Defense Fatique? But I didn't get around to do so yet...
3rd win was the Cherry Tree High Complete Pack.
Now this one was bulls-eye. The first one is kind of a dating game(?) where you need to raise stats and then pick the right conversation options to get closer to people. Not fully understanding the game I foolishly used up all good options with barely any stats, something I regretted when finally grasping the game itself proper. Was about to throw in the towel when I learned if you "won" with making 3 full friends you can use that savegame's stats for NG+ making the whole stat-grinding far better. Failure to win and restart was the only option. So I used a guide to help me beat 3, even though I have yet to actually use NG+. The stat-system and repetition kinda keeps me away.
Different is it with the second game; a full on Visual Novel. One of my earliest intro's to VN's and I was loving it. All the humour and fun of the first game without that repetitive annoying "gameplay". I know many people did or could hate it for that, and lot's of people don't think VN's as game's but I much prefered this entry over the "game" that was the first. Still both good fun.
Party Saboteurs looked interesting but it wasn't posted clearly on the store controllers are required so trying with keyboard it simply refused to even start the singleplayer campaign :/. Left a negative review on that and the devs stated they now added keyboard control but I have yet to return.
Three Days is a very very rapid survival game, the game quickly without information making your life miserable. Not exactly what I was looking for so I didn't really bother anymore after a few tries.
Ookibloks is a cute puzzle game. Terrible at those though. Beat a few levels, should return to play the rest sometime. It's still installed when I got that interest, but so many games! Oh noes!
State of Anarchy is an... interesting... top-down shooter. It doesn't look great, it sounds terrible but it's fun to play for a bit. The goal seemed to be to just get richer and richer and kill more and more but it's good for an hour or so of fun, it was for me.
ASMR Universe - 2 years ago I doubt most of us heard of ASMR (I definitely didn't) and I totally anticipated this "game" to be something else than it turned out to be. The screens and description of the store looked interesting, the "game" itself did not to me.
I've won my fair share of absolute trash here. Sometimes curious. Sometimes because interest in trading cards and I doubted anyone else would play them. Yes, leecher, sorry :/. But I gave all I played atleast a try. And I can guarantee you the following games are, infact, terrible. You're welcome.
The Lost Souls (unity asset flip horror game dime in a dozen)
Go Mission: Space Travel (how not to do SMHUPS (did I spell that right?))
Wrath of Anna (a whole load of nothing. Or I suppose MMORPG with zero players. Can't blame them)
Invisible Mind (LSD trip game)
Nightork Adventures - Beyond the Moons of Shadalee (shoot stationairy green orbs with green laser, red with red, blue with blue. So boring to do 100 times in one level, and then do it all levels. NOPE.)
Rise of the Ancients (If there's a worse way to make a TD I have yet to find it)
Anime! Oi history! (a 2m story, a 10m forced wait then the shocking (cause no sense at all) conclusion. In Engrish.)
Remnants of a Beautiful Day (More LSD walking simulators which are just "trippy terrain, done")
- Arcane preRaise - & - Arcane Raise - (You probably know this crappy series by now so no need to add more)
Dark Shadows - Army of Evil (walk through a poorly constructed fortress doing... something. Yay! NOT)
*Slingshot people (GameGuru trash)

Bit Blaster XL is quite a bit of fun. A simple shooter game that can get difficult fast. Upgrade your ship, get the proper upgrades and survive. Recommended little game.
Tales of Zesteria:

Désiré is actually a rather charming adventure, although I only finished year 1 and 2 so far with 2 more to go. Puzzles can be rather hard... or I just suck since I needed to view my walkthrough a few times. Best if you can solve stuff yourself of course. Not sure why it was removed but it's back with a different appid if you want to give it a shot.
The Mahjong Huntress was fun but it's bugginess really wrecked me. How one can manage to code a mahjong game where you can end up with 2 pieces in the end... and they're different ones. It still boggles the mind. If you keep losing since the game is just designed terribly that really draws out the fun fast.
One Night Stand. An intersting, but short VN about, you guessed it, a one night stand. Suffering memory loss you need to end your encounter properly. It's biggest pro is the replayability due to the large amount of options. The drawback is repetition can set in. Best to try a few, then give it a bit to forget again then try some more options. And probably needing a guide for all achievements.
Artifical Defense. Not what I expected, although this time in a good way. Though it has very minor tower defense elements it's mostly a top-down shooter. And a very intense and interesting one at that. Worth a look-out I say.
Defense of Greece TD is a very basic Tower Defense game. Although it's concept of awarding upgrades that you can use outside the actual battles to upgrade your towers is fun. It shows it's mobile roots by the micro's that are ingame currency given so often the difficulty is very very low. Probably a nice step-in for new players, or if you want some casual TD fun. Hardcore TDs seek elsewhere.
LEGO MARVEL Avengers. What's there to say, the LEGO Games formula is well known by now and this game is no difference. Co-op 100% with my GF like all others (the lack of 100% achievs is due to DLC I don't own) and just as fun as all the others. One of the most interesting additions is, due to the MARVEL universe you can do flying challenges with heroes like Thor or Iron Man which control much better than planes in other LEGO games (not have to be found), though I still was tasked doing all races as usual anyways XD.

Doodle Kingdom: Hollowed out Doodle God and the new added modes like the "hero leveling" where barebones and not much fun to play. Probably the weakest in the Doodle line-up after 8bit. Pass.
Endess Fables: The Minotaur's Cures. I mean... It's an Artifex Mundi HOG. They rarily do bad ones and this one is no exception. I also loved the mythological angle here.
Strongmind: Gets it's own mention rather than lumped in the terrible category for being the biggest scam on Steam I recall seeing. A "quiz" with 4 questions (all the screenshots) that can't even bother telling you if the answer was right. Worst of all... the amount of time Valve just didn't care and left this up for sale. Shocking. Also still got a foil from it... sigh

Massive Cleavage vs Zombies: Awesome Edition: This was something else. It's not good, but that doesn't shock you does it? But I've had a bit of fun with it, even got 100% achievements. Because the story is just "WTF?" but not in an absolute terrible way. Recommend it? Nah, probably not.
Karma Miwa: It's cute but the controls of this platformer are not the best and the gameplay is fairly basic and not all that enticing.
Streets of Chaos: Not even for sale anymore it seems, this game was just confusing. Also slightly broken and I could easily use a massive exploit to finish the game easily (something about being able to simply put in play arrested members or something, it's been a while). Seems the dev removed it for being downvoted for being bad, but yeah... it kinda was, man.
Dungelot: Shattered Lands. This one is actually a lot of fun. Only 1 achiev left but it's too grindy to bother imo. Open tiles and tiles finding a key and avoid/fight monsters to reach the final level, then rinse and repeat in a harder dungeon. Easy concept, often done, but it's done really well here and there's a load of options, items, spells and opponents, while not being too overwhelming. Played it 27 hours so that should mean something :)
Swordbreaker The Game - All in-game scenes HD wallpapers + game OST. Having already played this game (and loving it), liking the art and music it was a nice treat to win this DLC on steamgifts. Thanks guys!

That's your entire game. You can farm trading cards if you don't click the crashbox away, but no actually booting the game possible. WTF Steam?
And yes, this game is STILL purchasable on Steam. WTF Valve?
BlackSmith HIT:
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197998177676/recommended/508170
Timberman, basically.
Except left and right for left and right branch make a lot more sense than left for red and right for black. Which is very confusing (for me anyways).
Also you have to play a TON to unlock level 2 (ha, not me), I don't even want to know how much you need for the final level. No thanks.
SweatShop: A clicker so broken they had to implent an "unlock all achievements" button since you couldn't unlock them all proper. Boring game anyway so yes I used that then removed it. I mean... what?
Dungetris: A fun little game where dungeons are build as tetris blocks, getting larger and larger but because of the layout also more difficult to navigate. Can be annoying at times especially when you need to kill x creatures and all it spawns is everything else. Can get repetitive soonish too. Still, I got 3 hours of good fun out of this game.
Animal Lover: I was wondering to get the Indiegala bundle for this (before learning the wonders of Group Buy; never go back) and skipped in doubt. Well, I totally should have gotten that bundle since this VN is pretty amazing, and fairly long to booth (12h for me, generally don't get that for 10eur VN's). Dating guys, which are animals as a girl as straight guy was never so much fun. The humour is great, there's a fair amount of options, just a few typo's here and there. Recommended to all VN lovers.

Alien Shooter TD: A very fine Tower Defense, even though most of it's challenge (or lack thereof) is decided by weapons from lootboxes. Before you cry bloody murder, you buy them from ingame cash. Still can be very annoying but once you got legendary weapons that make deployment and upkeep cost lower difficulty plummets. It's still very satisfying to kill aliens by the hundreds if not thousands at a times though with blood, body parts and explosions all around. Not the best TD (yet I put in 30h) but definitely scratches an itch if you just want some carnage. Also the soundtrack is amazing.

Ancient Planet Tower Defense:

Weather Lord: Following the Princess Collector's Edition:
Time management game. After the 12 labour series just got too ugh for me with out-of-there map design it was refreshing to play one which is relatively easy to follow. The difficulty itself isn't also very high, though you might want to grind a bit for all achievements. I got 100% in 11.4 hours. Overall a good pick if time management is your thing.
FlatFatCat:
An obvious mobile game where you launch a cat by dragging. Something very familiar for mobile users. Then have the bouncy effect do the rest and meet the goal, getting more difficult as levels go on with more obstacles. Seems like it could be a small entertainment on mobile while waiting for something but to start it up for sessions on your pc seems not something that's very likely to cross most people's minds, mine included. Definitely fits mobile, not pc.
The Purring Quest Original Soundtrack:
I love the original game and this OST, provided by the developers, is amazing too. Really, I just want to take the time to shill this game. If you love cats, get it. Not a super-long game (took me 2.2 hours to 100%) so there's little excuse not to try.
Death by Game Show:
I... have no idea what I am doing in this game. Completed several levels just creating robots and really not too sure what's going on at all. I should probably give it another try to see if I can figure out what even is going on.
Snake Eyes Dungeon:
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197998177676/recommended/740240
Faerie Solitaire:
A very decent solitaire. Plenty of levels, the egg hatching you do along with it keeps you motivated (but not so much I'll grind the last 2 achievs, though apparently a recent patch made that better), challenges, goals. Definitely the best solitaire game I ever played.
Has-Been Heroes:
My responses in the giveaway:
First impression;
For a game centered around swapping heroes around lanes... It's almost impossible to swap heroes around lanes. Those controls, damn... so terrible.
&
I'm going to give it another try down the line but I think if your major element of "difficulty" is controls frustration, I probably wont stick around :(
Especially if the fundemental mechanic of your game is extremely hard to control while being also needed to be used 24/7 ingame :/
Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force
https://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197998177676/recommended/524580
Delicious! Pretty Girls Mahjong Solitaire:
A hard-as-bones solitaire. After 2 girls I gave up and enabled easy mode, removing your score (don't care) and the timer (yes! That was the most annoying part). Still many re-do's required. If you're a solitaire pro or want to really do some effort for art, no point not giving this a try for the low price it costs.
Fairy of the treasures (+OST +Story DLC):
The reviews pretty much told me, but I was stubborn and had to try anyway, maybe atleast something good could come from it. Nope, it's terrible. The "story" is literally non-existant, the story dlc is a farce, it's super-short and just stops mid-way. "We need to open this chest. I think I know a way... END." -Really, that is it. The OST is the worst of all. While the music ingame is passable the OST is full on earbleed. I have no idea what this is. Did they patch the ingame music to not kill your ears but left the OST the old crap?

Well, today marks my 3rd cakeday here on Steamgifts. So in annual tradition I made a cakeday train.
This time around I based it around my experiences with the games I won here.
I've won some amazing games, some games I wasn't sure of that I liked them then fell in love once I got to try them and got the rest of the series. But I also, especially early on, fell pray to the +1 or just winning for trading cards since "no one else would play this crap anyway (and I can confirm a lot of these are terrible) so if everyone only idles them why not me?"
I've never idled games without trying though, that's why I got so many games with cards left to collect since I definitely want to give them a try when I gather those (and if terrible do let them running afk). And a sadly higher than I would have liked unplayed wins from this site.
Very shortly after joining the site my gf got pregnant and boy, did I underestimate how that would impact my gaming time (while not adjusting entries here). We also used to play many HOGs together so I won several here to play in co-op but that also drastically reduced, leaving many of those unplayed still aswell. I have in the past year adjusted my view on entering though to be more suited to match the time available, generally only browsing my wishlist. 2018 didn't make it easier to release 2 guarantian games my way I was mostly interested in, backing them. Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Pillars of Eternity 2 took a lot of gametime this past year.
Well, with that intro out of the way, get your ticket for the train here. Along the way I penned down several thoughts of games I won here and played. Hopefully these are of interest to atleast some entrants since they sure took a long time to write all:
