the only dlc u should get are the heroes packs...
you don't need the maps dlc to play them (yeah... you buy it so you can open the game to others)

Considering the number of games in my library that I haven't even had time to play yet, buying a game that I may or may not like wasn't exactly my top priority. Also considering I really became active on Steam a couple of months ago when the Humble Android Bundle came out I don't think I'm too much behind.

It's a way that they continue to make money while I don't agree with it, but it is free during the first 2 weeks or so of release.. usually. Shard's update is worth somewhat as much as the full game. The rest? Meh. It isn't like you need them. You only need them to host the match.. well most. Besides the characters

I think I recall the Sanctum devs saying that using the Unreal Engine results in gigantic patches for comparatively trivial updates.

Dungeon Defenders also uses UE, so there's that.

I did say on IGN Prime. The game is free to those who subscribed.

Even if you don't have an account, the 1-month subscription translates to a 50% discount on the Steam price of Dungeon Defenders, plus the King Arthur promo is still active I think.
