https://www.paypal-activate.com/clac/eml-na-dt

No idea if this is real or fake, but it's blowing up the internets right now.
Just click through the offers, pick the $5 Paypal at the end and enter your Paypal email.

Apparently it's legit, the website is owned by Paypal.

errrr...

Wouldn't it be www.paypal.com then /activate or something if owned by Paypal?

Edit: Well after i decided to brave the link the certificate is for Paypal and it all looks legit, so i went ahead and did it.. now to wait and see.

It's legit, Paypal has done something similar to this before, As promised, they delivered in just over a week.

NOTHING WILL HAPPEN!!!

i did this on day one and read the TOS and nothing out of the ordinary showed up, now they updated and to receive the offer paypal had to give you the link to that page, and the coupon is valid only on 6$+ purchases... so they'll probably just keep changing the TOS until noone gets the coupon

We accepted terms of services when we entered email. It shouldn't affect those who did it before. (likely will unless you sue Paypal). :D

That sucks

Min $6 requirement is something I expected, not big problem.

But I read they will choose few lucky mails to get coupons or something like that, true?

But that website never asked you your password, just your email.
And unless you have a pretty weak password, they can do nothing with it. I think.

you got it because your https connection has a problem, it was not secure for some reason...

This will happen on https sites if your timestamp is wrong. check your clock, thats usually the culprit for https errors. Also, it doesn't mean the SITE isn't legit, so don't go spreading paranoia like that...

Seems it's just simulates on how would you buy something using Paypal, but you don't put your info there, you just click the button without writing anything, then in the last step you can choose the offer 5$ Paypal, and you need to write your email. Doesn't ask password, but still who can confirm this is legit?

You get $5 coupon not $5 in money, which expires 30th September, someone who did this thing before can confirm this is legit?

It's not a free $5 in cash, it's a coupon to use with Paypal. They're trying to promote Paypal use, and $5 is nothing for them to try and get someone to switch to Paypal.

eBay does it all the time, as does Amazon.
