sounds tempting, but I am still hoping they would recover my desura account with the games I had there...from what I read, around 2017 they might do that.

Nice to see an official representative here :)

I sent a message to support a couple of weeks ago via the chat box on the site but didn't get a response. I noticed a couple of the newish games I downloaded (e.g. Finding Teddy 2, SKYHILL) were several versions out of date compared to their Steam versions. Do you ever get new builds from the publishers?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Sometimes publishers remember to provide us with new builds but in most cases they dont. All support requests is forwarded to the publishers so they are aware that users are asking for new updated non steam builds. We try to get them:-)

What is OnePlay ?
DRM-FREE games? If i pay $1 i can play all 2k games for a year ?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Thanks for your comment.

OnePlay is not DRM free games, sorry.

But yes for $1 you can play all +2000 games for the next 12 months.

OnePlay offers a subscription service for PC and Android games. Currently with more than +2000 games available.
You will not find new AAA games in the service at this stage but you will find many different type of games in the service.

We currently have more than 100+ publishers adding games on a regular basis.

The OnePlay subscription also give you a 10% discount on any games you buy from the store.
This way you can get your entire game fix from one place:-)

How does the subscription work?
If next year we decide not to continue with the subscription but we forget to cancel it, are we automatically charged full price or we just lose access to the contents and get a nice reminder to continue with the subscription?

I'm also on the fence because of this.

I read on another forum that you lose access immediately upon cancelling your membership. This means you would need to resign days before the billing date to enjoy your 1 year free (ok $1) trial. And let's be real - they don't make money from your dollar. They obviously count on people with bad memory so they could charge them $70. I bet even if only 1% of subscribers forgets to cancel the membership on time, they would still be in black.

That's exactly my problem, I have a really bad memory, and I don't now about next next year, but if I were to be charged today with $70, my bank account balance would be negative.

Hi There,

Currently our system is set so you have to remember to cancel your subscription. (There is a way around by using paypal. You can cancel the recurring charge in your paypal account without any effect to your OnePlay subscription)

Our next system update will feature a functionality to stop the subscription but retain the paid period until it ends.
We dont want users who have no interest in staying with us. Thats no good for anyone.

Hopefully we can convince you to stay:-)

Thanks for answering. I just bought the subscription (although it is still "pending") and will do the Paypal workaround.
If I enjoy the service and next year I can afford to renew it, I'll do.
In my opinion it would be much better if customers could choose between an automated subscription renew or a manual one.

I have also another question. I registered using the same email address that I used on Desura. If you get it back alive, will accounts be merged or something?

The intention is that the OnePlay and Desura user bases will be merged at some point, yes.

You can easily buy a code and gift if to a friend.

I subscribed the other day, most of the games are not worth it but there are a lot of good games like Daedalic ones, STALKER trilogy, Vanishing of Ethan Carter, several LEGO titles...

It's only $1 and you also get a 10% discount over any purchase as long as you're a subscriber.

One very important thing: please, improve your client because it's not possible to install the games in different drive letters than C:

Yeah we have tried for many years to get past that block.
But the gouverment is not responding to our requests.

The most stupid thing is that the block was set in place before we acquired the OnePlay.com domain.

You can access our site through VPN.

I've gone through the entire catalog and made a list of viable games:

  • Legend of Grimrock 2
  • Stasis
  • Hatred
  • Forced Showdown
  • Lego games
  • Arcania + DLC
  • ABC Murders
  • STALKER games
  • The Vanishing of Ethan Carter
  • Deponia games

Might be helpful for others to paste it in the first post

I also noted The Vanishing of Ethan Carver, Skyhill, Deponia series, Evoland, and FEAR 2, but not sure of quality of all of them.

How could I forget about Carter :O Not sure about Skyhill. Evoland and Fear 2 were bundled many times I think.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not sure about Skyhill.

Zenith and Skyhill are both unbundled and high interest among fans of their genres. Comparatively, the STALKER games, the Deponia games, Arcania, Hatred. Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and ABC Murders have all been bundled or given away free before [with Deponia: Doomsday and Legend of Grimrock 2 both having "only" been Humble Monthly'd].

Basically the only things currently on your list that compare to those two are the LEGO games, Forced: Showdown, and Stasis. :P

Got the previous deal and install The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Unfortunately it crashed at some point, and I'm also guessing it's the original version, not the Redux. Plus the game image doesn't show in the launcher app (which in general is crappy).

I took the plunge and bought it last night. It finally lists my payment as "approved" after pending for a bit too long

Have yet to test any of the games, and would be curious about what future titles may be moved over to the rental service model (as opposed to just buying) and/or if there are any temporary rentable campaigns like the Steam free weekends or GOG Connect account linkups. OnePlaycom?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I take back that first part: Although payment is listed as "approved" in the account section, the app itself says "no subscription" when I try to download anything to test out the platform. Whole bunch of silliness is afoot here.

Comment has been collapsed.

It's kind of confusing. You first need to go to "Game Library" in the drop down menu when you click your account to get a code, then you go to Plans also under your account and there's a place to add the code there, which will activate a 100% discount, afterwards you select your plan and it should show as free. At least I think that's how it was, don't remember it exactly.

We found that the the checkout process buying a game code works much better when selling the subscription as you can choose when you want to activate:-) You simply need to activate the code, please follow this guide :

http://www.oneplay.com/en/download/details/12379_12_months_OnePlay_VIP_subscription

HOW TO ACTIVATE YOUR SUBSCRIPTION:

  1. Log in to your OnePlay Account here
  2. Go to "Plans" menu
  3. Push the button "Choose new rental plan" or "Subscribe"
  4. Enter the code you received when your purchased your VIP subscription in the field "Gift code" and click "Next"
  5. Choose the "12 months" plan and push "Buy now" to get the free subscription period
  6. Download our windows or android app, log in and start gaming!

Your VIP subscription is now activated and connected to your account.

The information is now listed as pending verification about 18 hours following purchase. I received this e-mail:

"Step 1.
Please confirm your OnePlay Account by giving us your name, address, and telephone number AGAIN. (We know this is irritating, but we just need to double check ...sorry.)

Step 2.
Please provide a picture/selfie of your self and a photo ID. (Again we're sorry, but need to know it is you.)
Please send the information, and we will approve your order and reward you with a FREE Steam Mystery Key (Small)(PC)."

I think I'm out.

Hi there,

We receive monthly updates from our publishing partners and games are added weekly.
Our catalogue will probably never consist of any new AAA titles as no publishers has been willing to discuss this for the past 5 years.

But you will receive updates from our catalogue weekly.

We are working on temporary campaigns which some publishers has shown an interest in doing.

Thats a good question, some users experience issues because their IPv6 protocol is activated.
You could try to deactivate it and try again.

I have IPv6, so that's probably the reason. I'll deactivate it later and then will try again.

Eh, this is so buggy. I downloaded Kholat game, clicked on Install..., nothing. I click again, this time completely nothing shows. I browse manually to game directory and run it directly with EXE, activation window prompts (everything empty, so I blindeyed typed the login and password, it worked). The game ran after 5 minutes of working in background.
Then I downloaded other game - skyscrape simulator
Again, I click on install (same as with Kholat), but this time after getting to EXE directly it doesn't work. Completely, nothing happens. The process terminates automatically after 5 minutes of waiting. Complete zero. I removed the game in OnePlay and installed again. This time when I click "install" the OnePlay stops responding. What's going on? 2000+ from which you can't play single one because OnePlay launcher is a complete mess...

I used the month trial before, it was a decent service though it uses a really really bad IE6-7 web wrapper which is cringey nowadays.

Sadly, now the 12 months are $5 and that's a bit too much (I only want a couple games from there).
