Well, my giveaway for Letter Quest Remastered ended with a little fiasco, the key did not work. The key was in my "Not used keys" list, (which is accurate) and therefore I can only assume that someone keygened this exact key somehow. Bah. So I bought the winner a new copy. Anyone had issues like this with keys? Would you have buyed a new key?

Good. A good muffin is always nice. Is that a slang? Or you just randomly like to state your food preferences? :P (just to be clear, English is not my first language)

No, not metaphor of any sort. I just like muffins. I thought you needed to know.

So, food preference than. I like muffins too, you know, lemon, and wood berries are nice. Not the double chocolate though. That is too much for one human to handle. Just sayin'.

Will send you a muffin with a Resurrect-Me-Now spell. But joking aside, thanks for the info below.

By the way, I'd recommend not doing giveaways for levels 0. Giving to same levels as you (unless you're crazy level like 8+) is fine imo. This filters lot of potential scammers (people who falsely claim that the key doesn't work). Of course this can actually happen and even happened to me, but I was level 4 and the game in question was worth $3, so there wasn't any problem.

I'm sad to tell you but based on winner's profile he probably gave the key to somebody else and lied to you that the key was used already.

Still, you acted as an awesome guy, but I wouldn't believe the winner in that case.

Nah, he didn't have the game, and activated it after I sent the new key. Would not think that he was trying to scam me.

Of course he didn't, because only a fool would activate that key on his own account, he probably gave it to one of his friends or whatever.

I'm not saying he did or not, because I have no proof. I'm just using this site long enough to know how disgusting some people are.

What made you think that? I thought "oh, is it one of those guys who tells to multiple GA creators that their keys don't work" but no, it's just a level 0 user who has won 4 GAs and marked all received. Guilty until proven innocent... applies often here?

I'm not accusing anybody of anything, because I have no interest in it. If that was my key, I'd be sure that it's unused, but since it wasn't, I can't state anything, only use "most likely" case of how many similar users are trying to scam other people, and it's happening on usual basis.

Did they tell you the key didn't work? I've had people no activate my keys before. If they say it's not a valid key, check where you bought it from. Most recognized companies will revoke the key and give you a new (working) one. You didn't need to buy.

Edit: Oh, it's probably been there for a while, so it might be too late then. Anyway, you acted well, but if you checked the profile and it looked fishy, you should probably have taken the hit for it.

Thanks. As I replied to JustArchi above, I don't think it was a scam. But if I started a giveaway next time, and the key does not work, I can have that giveaway closed without any negative outcome? This game was not that expensive to fuss about, but a 50 EUR game would be not that fun to buy again.

I had a similar problem with a key in my Nine & Forty Birthday adventure. However, despite having the game in my "not used keys" list I did notice my wife had the game in her library and she couldn't recall purchasing it so I'm pretty certain I'd given it to her and forgot to update my list.

Sadly I didn't have another spare key but as I didn't want to disappoint the winner I offered to give them a spare key for a game I had on their wishlist. I had to get special permission off SG support so they could change the GA game for me and they made it clear it was a one off change they would make for me and it was not to be repeated :)

Next time I'm afraid I'll just have to delete the GA (although I may still try and send them a different spare key I have via Steam)

It happens, sorry it happened to you.
I've received duped keys from a couple of different sites before (hell, received an entire bundle of dupes once).

Glad to see you handled it well and hope it doesn't happen again :)

I've only had a problem with one key so far and the user was completely trustworthy so I just took the hit and bought a new key.
