New to CS GO

My tip would be to not play competitive

Be prepared to empty about 20 bullets into someone's chest at point blank range and only have 3 register; welcome to the horrific netcode bug that all source engine games have and valve stated they would never fix.

Practice on harmless bots first. The hit registration in CSGO is the worst in all the FPS games I've played. It's even worse than Black Ops II.

I have played thousands of hours of Counter-Strike, and over 700 hours of Global Offensive. The basic tips I can give are:

• Always be near cover. Always. Never forget it. If you're not in a position where you can instantly hide behind a wall, you'll die.

• Once you spot an enemy, shoot at him first, and then go behind cover (you ARE near cover, right?) Don't stay out there trying to kill him if he survives your first shots. If you don't have backup, then now the enemy knows where you are, so don't stay behind that cover. Go somewhere else. While escaping, you can throw a flash or smoke behind you.

• Don't crouch while exchanging fire. Once an enemy sees you, if you're crouched, you will die.

• Don't aim at the floor while running around. Always have the crosshair positioned at head height. When an enemy pops up, moving the mouse in order to place the crosshair on your enemy will take some time. In that time, he will already have killed you because he, unlike you, already had his crosshair positioned at head height rather than at the floor.

• If an enemy is far away, shoot only one or two bullets at a time. Holding down the attack button and spraying bullets will get you nowhere, since weapons are very inaccurate.

• If an enemy is near, then you can spray. While you do that, always move the mouse downwards after the first three bullets, since the recoil of the gun makes the bullets go higher then where your crosshair points.

• If you don't have a headset, get one. If you use speakers, you will get killed.

• When you see enemies, tell your team where you saw them, and how many you saw. The most important thing in this game is knowing where the enemy is. For that, you'll need to know the spot names of the map. This requires you to watch others play (like on Twitch) or study the names.

• Pay attention to the radar. If your team spots an enemy, he will be visible for you too on the radar, even if you yourself can't currently see him.

• Play a lot of deathmatch so that you can learn how to shoot.

I am master guardian (looks like sheriff badge) rank. SO if you have couple more friends with lower ranks or we gather some folks here, we can totally play together. But you dont want to go with couple of guys of my rank because you wont be having fun.
