I did that to some random guy in my friendslist.
I had no idea who he was, so I pretended I accidentally sent him a key, and thought he was my BFF, "Dave" who has a birthday.

I gave the key before I said anything.
He said thanks.

Than I said "Happy birthday Dave!!!"
And he said "...I'm not Dave"
Me: Oh shit.
Him: Uh, oops?

I ended up telling him the truth, and he thanked me :D
