I'm trying to enter "Grimm Complete Pack" giveaways but it keeps telling me I'm missing the base game which seems rather contradictory since it's the complete pack... I've already tried installing the free first episode on Steam and have resynced several times but to no avail. Does anybody have an explanation for this maybe?

It worked for me (base game no longer missing) when I synced after having started the game once for a minute.

Bug, that's why those giveaways have so few entries

The base game is free to play, whereas the Complete Pack is all of the other episodes. Someone posted about this problem, yesterday, and I'll tell you the same thing I told him.

  1. Install and run the game. About half an hour's worth of playtime should do it.
  2. Check your Steam profile and see that the game is listed among the games you own. If it isn't, play a bit more, or wait.
  3. Once the game is on your list, sync your Steam account with SteamGifts.
  4. Enter the giveaway.
  5. Profit.

Thanks for the workaround but it does seem like a bug as others have already mentioned.

Not a bug. It is not in your library then SG can't see it. Simple as that. There could be a feature to assume all free games in anyone's library. But not having this feature is not a bug.

What I mean is, if it's a "Complete Pack", it shouldn't say you're missing the base game.

So do the simple workaround so you can enter a giveaway you won't win anyway or continue to complain about it. Win-win situation, boy.

Not a complaint at all and weird that you should think that but thank you for your input nonetheless, boy :)

Technically the base game contains no episodes, the episodes are DLC and the first episode is free so you can try out the game for free. (kind of like a demo) I had to play this first episode up to a save point for it to sync and then was able to enter. :/

Same with Starter packs for f2p games. They shouldn't require you to own it.

When you go into the steam store and search for grimm you will see

Grimm <br>
Episode 1 A boy learns what fear is

I had to download both files and then run the grimm game, played for about 2 minutes then resynced and waited another 20 mins.

After that I didn't have the problem anymore. I think it kept happening to me as I only had Grimm installed and not Episode 1 A boy learns what fear is installed as well. Thats how I got round it.
