Note, the beta isn't ready yet, and neither are Steam keys being sent out. You'll get an email when the beta becomes available, and a Steam key once the game is released on Steam.

Yep! Tons of different types of penguins, penguins are the space pirates of the universe. The developer has also said he's considering making them a playable race, different from the seven main races.
