""VIP" is a special lifetime account status that will be available to those that purchase it in Tribes: Ascend. Those with VIP status will have priority login, access to exclusive servers, and will earn Tokens and Experience faster inside the game, allowing them to unlock items faster.

I have a similar problem OP, I've got a beta key but when i download the client it says "Failed to start the Hi-Rez Studios Authenticate and Update Service"
Aynone else got the same problem or a solution?
Also ill give the beta key to someone for MW3 HEHE

Since people are trying to hock their Tribes Ascend beta keys here, I just wanted to mention that you should keep in mind that TA keys are now being given out in large quantities for free by certain gaming websites. (Same thing with Star Wars: The Old Republic "stress test" beta weekend keys.)
