Shooting pigs on the ground or shooting them out of the balloon?

Read an article about shooting feral hogs from a hot air balloon today and it made me think about pigs.
What utter pieces of shit. I hope their balloon crashes and the pigs get to feast on their corpses.
Makes me think of the assholes here in the American west who use helicopters to hunt murder wolves.
Only hunting I support is for survival, not trophies or dick-measuring contests.
Here's a coat-of-arms featuring a boar, because they're awesome.

What about hunting to prevent over-population, and with that serious disturbance of the local ecosystem ?
(That's what hunting seasons are planned around in this country anyway, in particular for boar and rabbit.)

I mean, that sort of qualifies as survival since the local ecosystem can be destabilized. When reading about reports of the wolf (and coyote, come to think of it) aerial hunting it is usually the worst sorts of redneck shitbags talking about their kills and how "badarse mang" it was to murder a defenseless creature from hundreds of feet above.
However the real problem lies with when they were introduced in the first place. Hogs/pigs were routinely introduced to areas without them when colonizing areas so that future expeditionary forces would have a food supply. As usual, humans not taking the long view.
To clarify I do eat meat (after being vegetarian and then vegan for about 10 years combined) and am not against the consumption of it, I just think people divorce themselves too much from the consequences of what we as a species do to the rest of this planet.

"But why hunt down these delicious pork products? As it turns out, feral hogs can be a major nuisance animal, rooting up gardens, destroying crops, and damaging fences. According to researchers at Texas A&M’s Agriflife Extension program, they cost over fifty million dollars in damages per year."
You're a little jumpy with condemning unknown people who shoot unknown amounts of hog for unknown reason, but it's fine to wish for their death because they may have done something you don't like.

Hunting feral hogs one of the "fairest" hunts, the chances or you killing the thing or the hog killing you is the same. but this? get some balls and if you are going to kill animals for sport atleast make it fair and a let the freacking thing defend itself

That's just a teasing art, that creator of Beyond Good and Evil posted some time ago, hinting that the forever awaited sequel is still happening :) Supposedly it's the young Pey'j from the first game

Yep ^_^ The art with young Pey'j was posted in September, in October Michel Ancel (the creator) said that the game has entered pre-production, and week later Ubisoft confirmed that the game is in the development. And here's the freshest news - just yesterday Michel Ancel posted: "Mhhh, not sure that E3 would be the best place to showcase BG&E2 but we're working on the game so sometime this year, you should hear about it!". So yeah, once again I'm happy and excited and full of hope :)

That makes 2 of us. \o/ Thanks for making my day :3

Hey, don't give up just yet, it's way too early for that :) It's not that much different from all the previous times they've said that the game is in development. Sure I'm excited and hopeful, but I'll believe it when I'll have a playable game on hands.
But I hope you don't mind, that I more rooting for getting the game, than for SC:Ghosts keeping a company. Besides, I'm pretty sure you can find another suitable substitute - I heard that The Development Hell is quite crowded this days. Of course not many have a beard that long, but still, there's gotta be a couple dinosaurs left.

From what I understand (and sure, I could be wrong, my RL sources are limited, and it's not like I researched it myself), feral hogs tend to pose an environmental threat. This also creates a nuisance for hunters, because they end up eating the food hunters leave for deer. You can't hunt deer that aren't there because there's no food around.
The second problem posed to hunters, though, is that feral hogs aren't good for hunting. They're dangerous, and have thick hides, so they're a pain in the ass to kill. They tend to get HUGE, so hauling their carcass around is a pain in the ass--yes, more-so than a deer. And finally, people don't consider their meat good enough to USE. Hunting hogs is about getting rid of hogs.
I know it's easy to say that guys in balloons and helicopters are total douchebags for killing wild hogs like that (and sure, plenty of them very well may be), but the first thing you gotta realize is that we need to get rid of these things.
The question I have for those folks though, is, "Are you going to pick up the carcasses?" Seriously, do they get someone to drive out and pick up what they killed? If not, that is some bullshit. You don't do that.
But, that's just what I've been told from a deer hunter.
