Shawnshank Redemption is great. Also I'd recommend (apart from the ones on your list) that you watch the following animated batman films
Films I've also enjoyed are Oldboy or Being John Malkovich. Also watch Tangled.

damn....I seriously cannot list all the stuffs I have watched and have loved...just go to IMDB and pick the movie you like and watch all the other recommendations. The movies I just watched recently were garden state (2004) and death at a funeral (2007, do NOT watch the 2010 version)

as a cinephile I do not get scared by it at all. do not watch all the top 250 movies, pick sth you adore so much like Pulp Fiction and watch the recommendations on its page.
for shocking movies but ain't too gory, watch some korean thrillers: I saw the devil, the chaser, the vengeance triology.
for sth truly awesome yet simple, go watch Confessions (Kokuhaku) a 2010 Japanese movie. your life will never ever be the same.

Sweeney Todd wasn't animated and I really enjoyed it.
However, I didn't really like Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland - apart from that I currently can't think of a Tim Burton film that I didn't like.

Here are a few that I suggest you give a try:
Clue the Movie,
Good Fellas,
The Thing (Old version),
The Evil Dead movies (The old ones),
Blair Witch Project

Communism is only a red herring. Isn't it?
Yeah I love Clue, every moment of it is hysterical.

Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (and the first one, ofc), Freddy Got Fingered, The Hottie & the Nottie, Son of the Mask, A Haunted House.
My heart still skips a beat when I'm thinking about these movies, they are just THAT good.

Then there might be some more girly movies like The perks of being a wallflower , The Notebook, Let Me In(a nice romance movie with a dark theme)
And probably some others i don't quite remember.

I agree about Memento and The Usual Suspects, but From Dusk'till Dawn, let's just say that it was the only Tarantino movie I didn't like.

Memento was meh. I mean the plot is mediocre the one thing that saves it is the way the narrative works. IMO.

quite a good list for an authentic movie fan but might be overwhelming for the initiate. And some of them are shamelessly tear-jerking (I am Sam, thought you were going to include Marley and Me as well)
I don't know many people who have not watched the goonies, that is just pure crazy!

I recently just finished Alien, Aliens and Pulp Fiction, ticking them off my list, regretting not having watched them sooner. It's about time, now that I have a lot of spare time, I started finishing off all the movies I never got round to. Wondering if you guys could help me figure out some amazing movies I need to watch.
Ones currently on my list I need to see:
(All the other Alien/Predator Movies)
Reservoir Dogs
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
Ocean's 11
Shawshank Redemption
Green Mile
I know you guys have no idea what I've seen or not, but hopefully you might all suggest things I need to see which I haven't thought about. Thanks guys.
