Game Genres we need more of:
I'd say cRPGs, but there are more than plenty of proper RPGs are now on the market and get released each year.
3D platformers are probably a little underrepresented right now, especially on PC.
Point 'n' clicks are plentiful, but on the low-budget indie segment. If not for the upcoming Syberia 3, I couldn't really name one with large publisher backup in the past 2-3 years.
And finally, RTS seems to be a dying or dead genre now. We are lucky if we get yet another shoddy StarCraft wannabe every second year or so.

Well, depends what we mean under point 'n' click, I guess. I consider a game that if it involves problem/puzzle solving. And Life is Strange had none of it. It was a great interactive television miniseries, but not exactly a video game.
I'm still yet to play Dreamfalls, but I want to finish up the Broken Sword series before starting up that trilogy.

lemme get some of that old school Survival Horror.
I'm talkin bout that old school. Plenty of surviving games with wandering around online clicking water in between gettin killed by zombies and other players., Then there's all kinds of first person horror with wandering around corners until a ghost pops out and says boo really loudly into the mic. Also, fun as they are, we got a big handful of those 3rd person survival horrors where the shooting took over and now ya even running around with your kung fu arms givin' monsters the business.
Hook me up with some brand new but finely aged, collegiate graduate type oldschool like all them Clocktowers, and some of those Dino Crisisies.... Dino Crisi....and the classic Residences Evils. Its been at least a whole school ago since REmake proved a game with crazy key holdin' and tank turnin' using our modern sensibilities could be legit enough to stand side by side with all the PSX greats.
Now that we finally getting REmake 2 I'm hoping it kicks off an old time revival for some of that old school survival horror.

no option for visual novels
Booooooo. Hiss. Booooooo. Hiss.
In all honesty, I wish more Japanese VNs would be brought over. But progress is being made with that, so yay~

Don't know about everyone else, but I definitely need more adventure games (what you've called point & click, I assume) in the classic meaning of the word. I do enjoy interactive movies by Telltale and their colleagues and immersive walking simulators, but I miss adventure games with actual gameplay, they are so rare these days.

Choices Matter games where your choice actually matters throughout the game and isn't there just for the lolz.
Survival games that don't revolve around zombies or other monsters. It'd be interesting to see a modern day survival without any supernatural elements.
War games where you don't play as a soldier on the front lines.

It's very telling that Turn Based Strategy games isn't even an option :(
Specifically, Mecha games with full customisation.
Basically Front Mission 3, on the PC, with HD graphics and more scope for stories / randomly generated battlefields.

Souls-like games. We definitely need more of that, especially as Dark Souls is over.

Some really good RTS in the vein of Warcraft, C&C, War Zone 2100, etc. More jRPG's ports (preferably well done), some decent arcade racing (Forza Horizon 3 looks good, but Win 10 and available only in the Windows Store, wish we have Gran Turismo on PC, too, maybe that will make EA to develop a proper NFS), some survival horrors (something like the original Res Evil games, Silent Hill 1-4, Alone in the dark 4, Nocturne), more sports (PC seriously lacks in that department). We also miss various simulators (planes/helis, subs, tanks - we had quite a few in the nineties), mecha (been so much time since the last Mechwarrior).
Criminally underused settings: Vietnam war, Korean war, Wild West, space.

if only, I guess we can dream.
One thing I wish steam would implement is a post release game removal system and card embargo.
I understand when people say no-one can really know in advanced if a game will be a hit or not but once a game has been released then we know and if the game gets overly negatives reviews for 3 months straight then the game should be removed from sales.
That and games should only start dropping cards after it proved itself at the 3 months mark.
This would avoid the Digital Homicide case all together.

Huh, I actually only just found out about it, it does look really cool! But that's still just one game. To be honest I haven't been following game releases that closely but I just haven't heard about a major RTS release I was excited for in ages, except for Grey Goo.

I would really like to see some really good shooters, but not multiplayer like battlefield or division or similar, more like doom and shadow warrior, like campaign and story based as absurd as it may be =))
I'm one of those weirdos that like COD campaign =))

I've read a lot of people saying that there are just too many FPS these days.
Are there any video game genres that you feel we need more of?
I'm also creating a game for a project, if you want to help, i'd love some ideas :)
