Hello! I'm sorry, but we've decided not to go forward with your application, therefore we will not be accepting you into the group at this time.
In particular, due to the circumstances under which you left the group, specifically regarding your past activity surrounding the group, which was discussed earlier this week.
While we will have to decline your application to rejoin the group at the time being, we invite you to try again at a later date if you are still interested in joining by then, and we'll gladly evaluate your requests to join again.
Thank you for applying!

It's always fun when I find posts I didn't know about on SG!
"inserts less-than-generic-please-invite-me-message"
So I've been on SG for a little while now, not long enough to be an expert but long enough to know most of the basics >.>
Besides that I'm just a regular Homo sapiens, I work full time in sales and fill in a good chunk of the free time I have taking care of other people's pets as a side thing, I like to cook (recently deboned and stuffed at turkey - was surprised deboning it was easier than wrapping it afterwards), play music (not too well), and I often have more games on back log than I've had time to actually play; steamlife
Also, I am mildly disappointed one of the bear pun pics on page one isn't showing for me QQ

I like to cook as well (just read GreenTomator introduction above ;))
I never had a console. C-64 was my first gaming machine.
I traveled from Hungary to Netherlands by bicycle once, visiting Slovakia, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium and France on the way.

Yo, the name's Liroy ;I
I like to play videogames (obviously) and think this group would fit me so this is an application :)
I'm above level 2 and have a ratio of 0.5 so I don't think the technical stuff will be an issue.
I will share giveaways when I have leftover bundle keys (which isn't common because I barely buy bundles anymore but I see myself blending in just fine regardless :)}

Hi there, I am just a random guy who likes to travel and hang around with friends.
My won giveaway/sent giveaway ratio is not good enough to join this group but I'm not so sure about my real CV. If I'm eligible, I would be happy to be a part of this group. Either case, happy holidays :)

Hello. I've been looking into getting back into doing giveaways again after taking a year long break (mainly due to college workload and financial reasons) and I was interested in joining your group. I first joined SteamGifts about three years ago and have been on and off since, and I feel finding a group. Now that I'm graduated and starting to work, I feel like now would be a good time to ease myself back into it, since I'll soon have money to put toward such things. Plus, I do have a bunch of spare keys from past bundles that I bought for certain games in them, so I'm eager to give them away to a group that would enjoy them.
To tell a little about myself, I'm a recent college graduate with a strong interest in computers. My other hobbies include reading and cooking. My favorite video games tend to be role playing games, but I enjoy a lot of different genres of game.
Also to be clear, this is an application/request to be considered for the group.

I'd like to join.
I like to make giveaways and I also like to join giveaways. (but not winning much)
I don't like to be part of a group that require me to make giveaway every month, although it maybe easy according to my history.
You are running a fun system and even a specific website. So I'd like to try it.

Hello there! Before responding to your application, we just wanted to check and make sure you were aware that this is a ratio-based giveaway group, as your comment suggests you may had not realized it. If you can just confirm this is an application to the group as described, then we'll go ahead and let you know if your application was accepted. Thanks!

Hey, I would love to be considered an invite for the group!
I'm fairly new to steam gifts/trades, I've been around for about a month now, I've gave some games away already and won some too, I get a lot of spare keys from my bundles that I buy.
I'm called Ellie and I love meeting new friends and gaming. I'm a graduate in Digital Media and in my spare time I love making jewellery.

Hi, I'd be glad if you considered inviting me to your group. I'm impressed by the website with steam login, bugtracker and all. However, I see too much of stuff like that at work, so I'd like to mainly concentrate on social interaction and giveaways. Why does everybody say they like to cook? As it happens, that is also something I like to do. Perhaps I will try to take over and change the focus of the group from gaming to cooking, after I've successfully infiltrated the inner circles of the group! Or not. Today I made tagliatelle with beef tongue and champignon mushrooms. Tomorrow i will make duck breast with ratatouille and baked potatoes. Sunday will be reindeer fillet.

No worries, the bugtracking/tasks-handling is all done by our team of highly trained monkeys in the group staff. :3
Members only need to maintain activity in the group at the bare minimum (but being willing to participate in the community is appreciated and a big plus).

Mantis is for our staff to handle the group maintenance tasks, while the website is optional to use for the users. We do not force any group member into using either, in fact, we've heavily automated and improved the whole process, to the point of having a dedicated userscript where you can create a touhou giveaway without ever leaving SteamGifts website, showing you the amount of points you have, giveaways you can join and all sort of other stuff. I've always wanted the minimum overhead for my group members, and I don't think it's possible to improve it further - it's already as easy as creating an invite-only or public giveaway.

Impressive stuff! I just looked at your projects on GitHub and fell into the rabbit hole for a while :-) . Chuckled when I found that ArchiBot has a GitHub account and has committed code to its own AI.

Think of it as a better way to control ratio - most ratio-based groups would have rules that require members to giveaway "x games of x value in x time/per x wins". This way can have flaws since there's not really a great way to determine a game's "worth" at a glance. Touhou Giveaways has its own point system that pretty much creates an economy within the group. Each individual giveaway is automatically evaluated and given a maximum "cost" members can spend if they win the giveaway, and then the giveaway creator can reduce that value as needed to gain entries.
Points are transferred from giveaway winners to giveaway creators, who can then also spend them to enter/win giveaways. Thanks to ArchiBot, there's no need to deal with calculating/managing your points, so members can just check their points to see if they can afford to enter/win <giveaway> or not.
Now, this might not be a 100% accurate explanation, as I'm in no way an expert - I'm just the public relations representative (AKA recruiter) after all. :D
Most of the details about how it works can be found on the website, though... and if you're still curious, you can pop into the group chat and ask away - chances are someone with better knowledge than me can explain it better and more thoroughly than I can.

You could say that Touhou Giveaways redefines giveaways in capitalistic way. It's self-balancing economic system with fixed details, where touhou points are valued as the members perceive it, and not according to how me, you, or any other person believes is right. The members choose themselves how high they want to value their giveaways, and everybody else is free to choose whether he accepts the price or not, resulting in awesome system where we don't need to go on compromises of assuming that every giveaway is worth the same, or manually telling what is worth how much. I put the power in the hands of the people, and they give the value to every touhou point, not me telling them what they can get for it.
We had very successful results with it with only slight tweaks since the first introduction in 2015, and the group is as strong as ever thanks to that. It's something entirely different to torrent ratios and ratios in general, yes, the group operates on 0.8 ratio, but based on touhou points, its own currency, so it's not a simple "you can claim 5 giveaways for yourself for 4 that you send", but rather "for every giveaway you create, we reward you with equal amount of credits according to its quality, and adding extra on top". It's up to you now if you want to give away 20 bundled games and receive 1 AAA, or give away 1 AAA in exchange of 20 bundled games, where the numbers do not come out of thin air, but are actually based on self-balancing demand and supply, as decided by the whole group. We have a very successful mix of people, those that both want to give AAA and receive bundled, those that want to give bundled and receive AAA, and those that mix both as they see fit. Nobody is getting scammed because of that, as the supply/demand is kept in-check, and it balances itself accordingly - something that doesn't work in other groups where people know right off the bat that giving away unbundled games isn't going to be as profitable as giving away IG trash.
I'm not stating that the system is perfect, it had its own flaws that we've managed to patch across all those years, but honestly though, I've participated and kept an eye on a lot of different giveaway groups, and I believe that touhou system works the best for group goals that I have in mind. I wanted to create autonomous system with minimum amount of rules and control, full liberty and freedom, using giveaways ecosystem, where I won't need to decide about the value of the giveaways for the system to work, and after 5 years of running I can claim that I've achieved what I wanted. I'd not change that system for any other used by any other group right now, since I can see all sort of flaws with giveaways count, giveways CV, giveaways real CV, giveaways bundled state, giveaways steam store price and pretty much every other metric other giveaway groups come up with. Here I don't have such flaws, I give people virtual money for their giveaways and they decide how much it's worth and what they can gain for it, and whether it's worth to get more in the first place.
And of course it goes without saying that nothing of that would be possible if not ArchiBot running the group behind the scene.

Thanks for this write up. I can appreciate this kind of groups existence, but it is not something I think I'm interested in. It's building a trade economy using SG's lottery system as the broker and ArchiBot as the central bank. It's a cool concept. Glad it's working out for you and your members.

It's building a trade economy using SG's lottery system as the broker and ArchiBot as the central bank.
I wouldn't call it a trade economy, more like giveaways ecosystem. You do not pick your winners and you neither pick the games from others, rather, you participate in giveaways you're interested in while giving away those you want, for the price you want in both cases. It's not the same as trading game X for game Y with Z, more like putting stuff on the auction while claiming stuff other people have brought, for the money you've gathered, without any guarantee that the people involved in both will even overlap. In the end however, every giveaway group that has any sort of regulations can be considered a trade economy, since people join them to both give away and win.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sorry, I was using the "exchange of goods" definition of trade, rather than the "this for that" barter definition. I know that the barter trading of games is generally taboo here, so I wasn't trying to imply that your group was for that.
And yes, I agree that most groups have rules that would make them a trade economy at some level. Most rules that aren't "don't be a dick" seem to work towards establishing a certain level of participation in the economy of trading games (including the base level system of SG). Game theory and economics could be applied to figure out how to best work the system to a members advantage. The concept of leaches, and the rules around limiting how much you can leach from the group's economy is an element of most groups (the torrent ratios example. Different mechanics, same intention).
I first asked for intentions because I was curious if you were using Touhou Points as a Social currency. This would be the DKP example. People get point for participating in the social aspect of the group (you get 1 point for chatting in the discord. you get 5 points for making a puzzle. etc). The more you participate in the social aspect of the system, the more value you can claim from the community (via giveaways, or in the DKP example, loot). This would have been a far more intriguing system for me as this would be a group that tracks and rewards social participation rather than fiscal participation, which looks to be far less common.
And again, this isn't to say there isn't value in your group. It looks like fun, but it's not how I'm looking to engage with the Steam Gifts community.
I'm all kinds of game to talk and debate about the mechanics and economics behind the system if that is entertaining for you. Just let me know. ^-^

Touhou Giveaways recruitment
Greetings, and welcome to Touhou Giveaways recruitment thread!
We're looking for friendly, active people who are interested in joining a welcoming community involved in more than just Steamgifts and giveaways, but also a variety of other activities such as chatting, playing, and occasionally hosting some of the best giveaway events Steamgifts has yet to see.
What is Touhou Giveaways?
Unlike the name suggests, the theme and focus of the group is not centered on Touhou - We're an inclusive giveaway group with all kind of members with various different hobbies and passions; all are more than welcome to join and enjoy the many benefits of being a member of one of the most complex giveaway groups on Steamgifts. Being more than just a simple giveaway group, we strongly encourage participating in the community by joining the group chat, or participating in gaming sessions or giveaway events we host, although it is not a requirement for joining the group.
Touhou Giveaways is a group where all, members and staff alike, strive to provide the very best gifting experience possible. Since its founding on February 18th 2015, the group has been in a constant state of development - Today, we're proud to say that Touhou Giveaways is better than ever, and still improving every day, and with every of our members' and staff awesome efforts and suggestions to make the group a truly unique experience for all. We enjoy great company, and new members will have no trouble adapting to the friendly, relaxed attitude we like to maintain within the group.
The group offers a variety of innovative features, most importantly being the implementation of a semi-autonomous bot which ensures that the entire group is run smoothly. From managing members' giveaways to calculating, transferring and awarding points to members, ArchiBot takes care of the manual labour so that you can focus on what really matters - the Touhou Giveaways community activity. In addition to that, we have a website, an active chat, a userscript, and even a shop where you can spend a special currency earned through group activity to decorate your profile within the website! Those are just a few benefits that our users can make use of.
What we look for in potential members
We are looking for friendly people who want to join a community-based giveaway group and who fulfill the requirements for application. We want new people to join us and have fun chatting and playing games with us, so if you're looking for a group where the focus is on community-driven activity such as this, with the giveaways being an extra, you've come to the right place. Most importantly, we want members who will care for the group and its members as much as we do, and won't treat it as just another source of free games among others - Touhou Giveaways is, at its core, and before all else, a group of friends who enjoy each other's company.
To best determine whether or not Touhou Giveaways is the group for you, we encourage you to review our group rules. We also strongly encourage joining our group chat, where the most active members participate in conversation on a daily basis. There, you can introduce yourself, ask questions, or jump in on a conversation - The chat is open to all and we're always happy to see a new face. Plus, taking the time to come visit us is a sign that you care enough to take a moment of your time to take a tour, and will definitely increase your chances of being recruited. Even if you don't apply, we'll be more than happy to have you drop by, or even be a regular visitor.
A few other minor factors may affect your odds of being recruited, such as having a positive ratio or recognition within the Steamgifts forum, but these are hardly considered in comparison to the factors mentioned above, and they shouldn't heavily affect your chances.
With that said, the only requirement for applying is to fulfill the initial requirements, and the above is only meant to give you an idea of what kind of member is more likely to make it through - The more you fit the criteria, the better are the chances that the Touhou Giveaways members and staff will pick you as a candidate. All are welcome to try their luck even if you only fulfill the initial requirements, though!
Until now we've organized a group recruitment every 3 months, with very positive results. Starting today, we've decided to maintain a single ongoing recruitment which will last until further notice. If you're wondering how things were organized in the past, feel free to check out our previous recruitment threads.
How to apply
Applying is simple - all you need to do is post a comment below and ask to be considered for membership. We encourage telling a bit about yourself, but this isn't a job application - just be yourself! The more effort you put into your application, the more likely we'll appreciate you for taking the time to post more than a generic "please invite me" message, and your chances of being invited may increase as a result.
After posting the application we'll evaluate your potential as a member and decide on your invitation. Waiting for your application to be reviewed is also one of the best moments to visit us on chat and get along with the community.
We'll usually let you know the outcome of your application in a few days since posting, but it may take up to a week if we're especially busy. If you made it in, one of our staff members will contact you shortly on Steam, where the group introduction will take place during which we'll happily show you the ropes.
More information?
If you want to know more about how the group operates, check out introduction which will give you a quick overlook of the group, activity and functionality, or learn more about ArchiBot, or review the group rules. The group chat is always open to the public, so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to hop in and ask us directly!
Good luck!
