Hello everybody! I had a copy of The Ship lying around for quite some time and decided to make a quiz giveaway out of it. So here we go.

The quiz is about the book series a Song of Ice and Fire by George R R Martin and the HBO adaption Game of Thrones. To avoid spoilers I didn't include any part of the story, so it's 100% trivia. All the questions are solvable without having read the books, but be careful if you decide to use Google: The Internet is full of really bad spoilers.

The giveaway is open for 4 days and non-contributor.

Good Luck!

I have all of them, except "Bugger all that trivia!"
Tried a lot of stuff, but I don't know what one is supposed to answer to that.

Could you maybe give me a hint? I've tried all bugger-related quotes I can find. It would be nice if I knew in what direction to look.

Vague questions and even vaguer answers. This isn't a trivia quizz, it's a "guess what I'm thinking" quizz. Sorry.

Bullcrap. If you read the books, you would at least know 9 answers. Question 6 is the only guessing one.

"Bullcrap. If you read the books IN ENGLISH, you would at least know 9 answers."
FTFY.

Hm what? What a stupid thing to say. There are fans all over the world, didn't you know that?

I'm from Germany, but I'll be damned if I will read this in German instead of the original language. So much gets lost when translated. It's not even funny.

It's still pretty naive to assume everybody read it in english just because you did.

You don't have to insult me over and over. You apparently can read and write in English. This site is in English, the puzzle is in English, so it's allowed to assume that the answers in the puzzle will be based off the English versions of the books. Or did you see a puzzle around here about the Portuguese version of Harry Potter? Or the Swedish translation of The Dark Tower? Or the Mandarin versions of American Psycho? Explain yourself.

I'm not insulting anyone. Your comment came off as extremely naive, and I pointed it out, that's it.

God forbid you call someone naive on street or reprimand them from saying something you deem naive as well these days, they may sue you!

It's naive to assume the puzzle is about the english version of the books? Interesting...
Also, you didn't answer my question.

Comment has been collapsed.

Nope, it's not naive assuming the puzzle is about certain version, but it is naive to say this... " There are people reading this series NOT in english? Oh lord... "

In any case, nobody is saying anything about making giveaways specific for this or that language, but rather choosing questions with more universal answers, which are the same regardless of the language.

I've been reading them in English. I've all but 5 and 6, I got 4 with some help. I suspect I couldn't get either 4 and 5 because I'm only halfway through ASoS and haven't come accross those expressions. Question 6 is just silly.

5 isn't used very often in the books, I give you that. 4 is one of the funniest lines, which comes up several times in the later books. That's why I think it gets stuck in the head really easy. I guess it didn't appear as often up to ASoS though.

Both lines are used a lot. Might be that this didn't happen in the earlier books, though.

Yes, this quiz is designed mainly for English readers. There aren't so many alternatives on an English forum. Still it can be done without having read a word from the books.

It isn't that vague. Of course you have to do something, but every question can be solved without knowledge of the series (had a friend do it without help) and as always: Google is your friend. (although you might wanna be careful so you don't stumble over spoilers)

I see that question 6 isn't exactly easy, but it is still doable and there will be at least one hint about it. After all this thing is open for 4 days and there are already 11 people who solved it.

Looked at the questions again. 5 questions (2, 3, 8, 9 ,10) are completely definite. Q1 is subjective, but it should be obvious and if it isn't: There is going to be a hint in 4 hours.

Q4, Q5 and Q7 are bookish and not yet solvable by only watching the show, but there is still the internet.

Except for Q6 I don't see anything vague. Yes, you might have to look up one thing or another if you haven't read the books, but nobody promised you anything else.

yeah, i'm stuck on 6 like a lot of people. any hints? i have read the books and i don't remember any memorable quotes or sayings with bugger on it (except perhaps one of clegane's). that and bugger is often used in lieu of "screw" or something worse :)

I wouldn't describe it as memorable, but there is a character that uses on a few occasions. Enough for me to have the word associated with him, but that might be, because I'm not native. If people keep on having problems with this questions I'll give some more hints.

Oh do you watch the show? Might help.
