Without going deeper into probability theory:
these suggestions will increase your chances

• entering giveaways with a small number of entries
• consider joining a giveaway group if you fulfill their rules
• higher level will allow you to enter more and maybe more attractive giveaways (you'll have to make your own giveaways to level up though)

It helps to be part of a few groups on steam that do regular giveaways.

Making some giveaways yourself, raises your level, and makes available giveaways with fewer entrants.

I mainly enter for games i'm interested in that are in their last hour, and have less than 500 entries. But that means on average, i'll need to enter 500 times to win once.

There's also lots of giveaways posted in the discussion section, that have fewer entries, and thus give you a better chance of a win.

Well, there's your problem.

It can take time. There are people that have won on their first day and people that take months to win anything. It all depends on that RNG.

Or even see if you qualify for the Unlucky 7 group.

But it can take time so don't get too disheartened, Also, think about trying to create a GA or two. Raise your level to enter higher level, as well as some private, GA's. Those often times have a higher chance of winning something.

Have patience, young padawan (sorry, I was DYING to use that one :P ). Patience is a virtue. I should know.

You have just joined the site, and the winning is randomly choosen system-wise. You just have to keep trying persistently. Consequently, the less people join a giveaway, the more chance you have at being rolled as the winner. But dont fool yourself! Joining a giveaway with 10000 entrants means you have roughly 1:10000 chance to win. Your chances are four times better, if you join one with 2500 entrants, but that is still a 1:2500 chance. It is significantly higher relative chance, yet still just a slim absolute chance.
Also, giveaways are often restricted by levels, which you can gain by giving away games yourself. The more giveaways you do, the higher your level gets, you will be eligible for givaways, which, thanks to the level restrictions, are joined by less people as less are even able to join to begin with.

There are a lot of options to find a GA with a lower number of applicants. Puzzle-gated GA's are likely the best chance among publicly accessible giveaways.

If you want to win, create a giveaway. Or you must be a very lucky. The first is easier ;)

I've heard that when you enter a giveaway when riding in a hot air balloon you are more likely to win.

Collect enough might and force the wins to accept you as master.
