In general, what do you guys think is a good ratio of price per play time in order for a game to be worth it? Like, at least 10 hours from a $5 game, etc...?

At wastedonsteam.com you can see how much you averagely payed per hour gametime. Not very accurate, since they're taking the current price for a game

that's the one, thanks a lot! anyway it's an idea even if the price is the full one :)

pitty it doesnt count games when I bought them, so for example I played tf2 mostly before being f2p game. Than it counts games which were on weekend try and sale so it counts like I have that game (serious sam 2).

Yeah :/

In the moment it calculates the price/hour you'd have to pay if you wanted to play from now on and don't buy any sales. Since i only buy games that are on sale and below a certain threshold, this value is like an upper border for the real price i payed which is kinda useful to know

It's probably OnLive (onlive.com).

i don't entirely buy games thinking on this...
for example, i'd buy bioshock 1 at full price, even knowing its playtime is around 8 hours. $2/h is really expensive, but in my opinion the game is worth that.

Neither do I, especially if the game is good story/gameplay wise. I bought Bioshock 1 & 2 both at full price, didn't get more than 10 hours each, but I do not regret it. They were quite fun.

This is more of an afterthought after playing a game. You look at your playtime and think, "Yup. I got my money's worth from that game."

For example, I bought Borderlands for $20, and I have 264 hours on it. Totally worth the 20 bucks.

Yeah it isn't all qualitative. I'd pay good money for a well-written and fun game that might only be 8 hours long. Quality of the game itself is a big factor for me. I mean, you might play for hundreds of hours and be left ultimately unsatisfied. If I'm satisfied with the product, then it was worth the purchase.

After all, I do not regret buying The Darkness 2... :P

$1-2 a hr.

I operate on $1 per hour of play policy - if I spend $10 on a game I need min of 10 hrs for the game to be "worth" the price of admission

Same as me. Since going to the movies is like $5 - $10 for 2 hours, I usually consider I got a bargain if I spent at least 1 hour per $1 spent. I mostly buy games on sale so I usually get at least 2 hours of entertainment per $1 spent though.

I don't play most of the games I buy, so $∞ per hour.

If you prefer a 60 hour long shitty game over a 10 hour game full of awesome for 60 bucks, then your mindset has issues.
You really can't measure a game's worth that way. Skyrim sure has a great longevity, except 80% of your playtime is freeroaming in the world, which isn't exactly necessarily fun.

I don't measure per play time as the entertainment value I receive doesn't remain constant for each hour or every game.
