Torchlight could run on my old 2.4GHZ Celeron single core with a old Geforce with 128MB of RAM. You might be surprised.

it barely run on my 1.8ghz core 2 duo tower with integrated intel gpu, but yes it run.

Check the homepage for the game, scroll down to the bottom. It has been updated and the bundle doesn't have the correct link.

Still free, but you need to go to the homepage and scroll to the bottom, since they have a newer version than that bundle links to.

I have it, but im not fond of the game. I know thats somewhat crazytalk here, im sorry!

Star Wars: Empire at War Gold a bit pricey at the moment, but still one of the best RTS games out there.
Of course, if you can find a copy of Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, that game is even better. Imagine AoE, but Star Wars.

I have Galactic Battlegrounds in my backlog. Someday...

My backlog is over 800 games, and I've had some games in my backlog longer than some SteamGifts users have lived. That day honestly might never come.

i have SW:EaW but havent really played it. Do you think it will run on this PC? remember it doesnt even run Portal 2.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm sure it would. My shitty laptop could run it. It did struggle at some points (lowest it dropped to was around 20fps), but it managed to be playable. It is a 2006 game, and isn't that demanding. If my laptop could run it, I'm sure yours can, lol.

Got it on iOS, i suppose i should stock up my iphone too. good call

I just wasnt a fan of that game. Youre right, it should definitely run on this though, so maybe ill give it another chance

wont be able to do counter strike, ill have no internet access, even via iphone tethering.
I'll be in the middle of nowhere.
I just got Gemini Rue, so maybe ill try that one, thanks!

I bought it at launch, not knowing i wouldnt have my good PC by now, but never tried actually running it on this.
As i said, theres no decent graphics card, it barely runs anything. Hmm. Maybe i should try it.

Neither Torchlight game have high system requirements, but the original would be best since it is smaller.

cs 1.6? at the least the portable version which is free can put on usb

FTL definitely runs, ive played it a lot, i just havent redownloaded it, so thanks for the reminder. Ill check out TTM, im already downloading Gemini Rue

It isn't too demanding, 32MB video card is all it needs, after all.

I'm in the same situation.
I have to use an old laptop with "Mobile Intel 4 series Express" graphics.... :-(
Here is the list of games that I play at the moment :
Recently I tried to play some paradox game like Victoria II or Hearts of Iron 3, but it's so slow that I gave up.

SimCity 4 works?
i know its 10 years old, but I just didnt expect it.
now that could be a great idea.

Yeah, with the release of SC5, ive definitely been in the mood to play some SC.
ill turn off those effects and if it works, i think we'll have a great contender for keeping me busy all week

Why not 2000?
Actually, I still need to play that one...

There's another alternative. Sign up for OnLive (dot com) and pay ten bucks for the "Playpack" deal (over 200 games included in that, many of them newer ones). Since all the games are actually run on the remote system, they'll play just fine on any laptop, no matter how crappy. It's actually cool as hell. The only catch is, you'd have to have an available internet connection, preferably wired, for it to work. If so, you're golden.

yeah, as i said somewhere below, ill be in the middle of nowhere, wont even have 3g or edge on my phone.
Ive used OnLive before but the connections in mexico city just arent good enough to support it, unfortunately

Bummer. That would've been ideal for this situation.
Ok, another alternative. Instead of looking for current games that'll play on old hardware, consider some of the older games that are still amazing, but would make your system look like it was overkill. I'd install Thief & Thief 2, then grab a bunch of FMs (fan missions). Might toss the original Deus Ex on there, too, just for the different mood. Many, myself included, still consider those to be some of the best games ever made. Hell, if I had to be stuck on a desert island and had to choose between Thief and anything else (modern or old), Thief would win, hands down.

Deus Ex is my favourite game of all time, i just finished another replay about 2 weeks ago. I usually wait a year before playing it again. But yeah, Thief and Deus Ex are great

Any of the Ys games. My computer has similar specs and runs those great. Someone even was able to run Ys: The Oath in Felghana on a netbook. Ys Origin has a demo that you can at least give a go to see if you enjoy the gameplay.
Also my computer is a dual core 2.3Ghz with integrated graphics as well. So feel free to take a peek at my library to see some games that will run with those specs (though I have the Witcher and it does not run, and you'd probably be unable to play Skyrim as well, I barely can run it on low).

If you're interested in anything that runs on the SCUMMvm engine, it should work.
Poorly-optimized but might work very nicely:

Yes, it would. The OP has a different computer than you do. CK2 is not GPU-intensive at all. It benefits from the CPU more than the GPU. In the Paradox forums, there is a guy who loves playing the game on a 7-year old laptop. Anyone who wants to find out if it would work should try the demo before buying it.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yep... well, since my old laptop is 4 years old, I'll have to see it to believe it.
And how would you explain that Vic2, EU3, and HoI3 run incredibly slow when it's the same graphic engine ?
I think the main difference between me and someone saying "it runs" is a matter of knowing if moving slowly on the map is okay for you.

I imagine Age of Empires 2 would. If not hd the original should work.

I currently do not have my main PC in the country i live (Mexico - it currently resides in a big box at my parents house in England)
I am going to a state called Oaxaca next weekend for holy week with my in-laws and I'm going to be bored shitless.
this is where games come in.
I'm looking for games (probably indie) that will work on a 2.Ghz Core 2 Duo with abysmal integrated graphics.
Currently installed I have;
Lone Survivor
The Dig
Don't Starve
Home
and Postal 2 (which runs really fucking poorly)
I also have Smooth Operators installed in Desura.
But beware, space is an issue. I have a 60GB SSD with only 12gb left!
Does anyone have any suggestions on what else I can play? If I have to buy them, so be it.
EDIT: Holy shit guys, thanks for all the suggestions. I have read all the replies and am looking at each title.
Ta muchly!
