It might not be worth for profit, even if u are thinking selling the immortal items later. But if you like dota 2 then I think it's fine. It gives you alot of effects and stuff you might not get later on, like weather and desert theme. You can get rewards by watching games as well.
I still don't know if I should buy it or not, have to think about it. Because idk if I will have time to lvl up to get lvl rewards.

I'm not sure about that, but I read it on the page
"Spectator Item Drops
Claim your piece of the excitement. As teams battle at The International, everyone who owns a Compendium will be eligible to receive exclusive spectator rewards, whether or not they are watching the games live. "
might be different stuff then

yeah i'm also on the fence but leaning strongly towards the buy side mostly because of that desert theme but then again the desert map is a 11 million stretch goal if i remember right, will it go that high?

We just don't know yet if items will be marketable, the previous ones were. Compendiums are the way to support internationals. You might get couple of cents back from the items it will give.
Will you be able to make profit? No way. Too many players, those items will flood the market. About leveling your compendium it's up to you, depends on how much money you wanna trow in.

i leaned that lesson a while ago. i already spent some money on opening treasures, i didn't get the items i wanted so i left the sets unopenned and planned to sell them (there was even a profit to be made relative to the price of the treasure i payed for) but i didn't count on all the other millions of players selling their unwanted sets at the same time. the sets that were worth 3-4€ the previous days were selling for .40€ when i woke on the day marketable restriction ran out so i'm not hoping to make a profit but i am hoping against hope for a small return of my investment by this time next year if i do decide to jump in. i see the last years compendium is still selling on the market for around 6€ and now i just checked and like 50 of them just sold for 20€

Oh you will get some back for sure. The best is if you wanna little bit more. Don't open those treasures. Buy the items that you want from the market on the flood period. Keep treasures for 3-4 mounts after TI is over, then and only then sell them. The important bit is don't sell when everyone is selling those. :))
Those are sold during the market bag this morning. They will be backed up. Compendiums now have expiration date. TI4 compendium was something like $2 as it will be over soon.

That is something that bothers me as well

It depends on. If you think about it as a profit maker, don't even bother to buy it. It's not worth it. However, if you think about it as a chance to get some this event only items (they might be restricted from trading so you won't be able to buy it on the market) and you enjoy to watch game streams then go ahead and buy it. 10€ per year is not something you can't afford (I guess).

Well I personally wouldnt be getting. Was happy when friend showed me the news but when I checked the rewards I made up my mind to pass.
Now I personally like to support tournaments(The Summit,Starladder from the big ones) but this International is putting me off.
The only new feature is the coins for sets so you might want to check it out before making your decision.
Overall wait and see for rest of the stretch goals and immortal treasures - by waiting you are only losing the coins event.

Last year, I shelled $100+ on the compendium (my compendium lvl was around 200+), but this year I'm not buying it.
I stopped playing dota 2 after valve made some stupid changes back to back. If you want to support valve, sure go ahead. But I'm not purchasing the compendium this year to make a point that I don't approve with the recent changes in dota 2 and in steam.
I seriously agree on all points said by this guy here: http://www.steamgifts.com/go/comment/Ar62SAS

How long will I be able to level up compendium, if I decide to buy it?

Hi i just wanted to ask if the compendium is worth it? I'm kind of a new Dota player (only 190 hours) and this will be my first rodeo (compendium) so i wanted to ask some of you who've already been through this if you think it's worth it? Will i be able to sell it later to make at least some of the money back, will the treasures and other rewards be marketable so i can sell the ones i don't want and do you think the level 50 compendium is a good deal?
Looking forward to hearing what you have to say :)
