Gene Hackman was found dead yesterday in his house, along his wife and the family's dog. Sheriff claimed that there wasn't sign of any criminal or violent activity, but couldn't tell what the cause of the death was.

Hackman was one of the greatest actors in the history of cinema. He got two Oscars and multiple, endless accolades. He could be put in any role, any movie, and do a great performance. He was semi-retired, and had to retire fully due to a heart condition.

We can still enjoy his presence in almost 100 movies and about 20 TV series appareances. And while he could be easily remember for his roles in The Firm, The French Connection (Oscar), Hoosiers, Unforgiven (another Oscar), two Superman movies with Christopher Reeves, and more, my most memorable performance by him was the blind man in Young Frankenstein.

Oh yes I forgot that one. Great movie, great performance (by all the cast, not only him).

Well, he was a great submarine captain in Crimson Tide.

Indeed! Great military thriller. And underwater, my fav sub-subgenre of movies! I liked how he walked the dog around the submarine and when he peed, the captain would look around as if he isn't noticing.

He has made too many great movies, or great movie appearances, at least, to mention them all. He got an Oscar for The French Connection, which I've never seen, btw.
