Rich Filmography, RIP.
Seems I have only watched 1 movie in which he acted: Enemy of the State
Edit: Saw Royal Tenenbaum, not my thing. Unforgiven was amazing tho.

He could have been a great general in Starship Troopers.
Well, he was a great submarine captain in Crimson Tide.

Indeed! Great military thriller. And underwater, my fav sub-subgenre of movies! I liked how he walked the dog around the submarine and when he peed, the captain would look around as if he isn't noticing.
He has made too many great movies, or great movie appearances, at least, to mention them all. He got an Oscar for The French Connection, which I've never seen, btw.

Sorry sad as it might be - I don't know who this person was (not trying to be rude but from the shows mentioned here they would not be the sort of thing I would choose to watch)
Edit: and saying see you soon implies your going to die soon (which I hope is not the case) - plus I doubt in heaven or whatever after life brings we would be anymore friends with these people than we were in living world

He was a great actor. Just that. Artists, whatever field they work in, give something special. You see a painting that makes you ponder for 2 minutes? That's a gift from one artist. Hear a song you've not heard since teen that makes your heart pump faster? Another gift. I wish I would have some kind of talent, painting or doing music. I have creativity, but no real talent for art stuff. Brick head.
We're all going to die, as we say here in Spain "in a hundred years, all bald". And if there's a place we all go, we'll be there for a looooooooooo, oooooooooooooo, oooooooooooong time, enough time to meet anyone you want. And to compare our life with that as a really really short moment. Hence, the "soon" part. It doesn't matter if months, years of decades, it's soon.
They say "never meet your heroes". But my best friend and me met when we were 17. And he didn't have a bad experience, I think. 35 years later, 2 thirds of our life, we're still besties.

Bump!
Just saw Unforgiven. Great movie with an epic end. Gene is so hate worthy in it, it was great.

Gene Hackman was found dead yesterday in his house, along his wife and the family's dog. Sheriff claimed that there wasn't sign of any criminal or violent activity, but couldn't tell what the cause of the death was.
Hackman was one of the greatest actors in the history of cinema. He got two Oscars and multiple, endless accolades. He could be put in any role, any movie, and do a great performance. He was semi-retired, and had to retire fully due to a heart condition.
We can still enjoy his presence in almost 100 movies and about 20 TV series appareances. And while he could be easily remember for his roles in The Firm, The French Connection (Oscar), Hoosiers, Unforgiven (another Oscar), two Superman movies with Christopher Reeves, and more, my most memorable performance by him was the blind man in Young Frankenstein.
