Hi.
I recently got newer phone, so I could finally play some stuff on my phone.
I don't know what you Android is, so I assume it's at least 6.0

So here are few suggestions:
a) poker -> Governor of Poker 2
Problem: free version only allows you to play 2 first cities - it might take less than hour to finish.

b) visual novel -> Hammer
This will last less than half hour, but is interesting.
There are many games of that kind - most are short, but if you don't want to try on your own. Want something that takes like 6-8 hours to beat ONCE, and all choices will have 30+ hour content - then go for Everlasting Summer

c) choices matter story-rich [?] drama thingie? -> Episode
Problem: some choices require premium currency. It limits amount of "chapters" you can play, but story (at least one I'm playing) seems interesting enough (so far) to recommend

d) any NES emulator
I can provide ZIP that's around 300 MB, but unpacking takes about 3 GB and gives you about thirteen thousand (yes, that's 13000) games from NES console. Well, at least it says so, but still there are a lot of games in many versions and hacks.
Problem is: this games weren't designed for touch screen, so actually playing them is a bit tricky with on screen buttons. With OTG cable and actual gamepad, you might have nice experience.

Probably Angry Birds games do not require internet, as well as Plants vs Zombies.
Those game were huge couple years ago.

I don't know many games, I don't play on mobile, too often.

Unblock Me is a pretty simple puzzle game with a lot of levels.

Plants vs Zombies 2 only requires internet in order to load new daily quests. Apart from that you can play it as much as you like offline.

I think the free Android versions of Angry Birds and Bad Piggies don't require any Internet though I can't say for sure.

I'm currently played Dead Shell (free version available on Google Play store), though it was only a dollar for the paid version in the current Humble Herocraft Mobile Bundle. Don't know if the free version requires internet access.

Along with that, I also enjoy ChuChu Rocket, but it seems to be unavailable now through the Google Play store or Amazon.

If you have bought Humble Bundles over the years, check if you have anything there to download. Some bundles included Android games.

You should check Stranger Things: The Game. Unlike most games connected to tv shows and movies this one is completly free, and - unlike most games based on tv shows and movies - this one is actually good ;)

I'm a lot into roguelikes, lately. If you enjoy this kind of games you will love:

  • "Caves"
  • "Redungeon": Simple and addictive, i reccomend unlocking Medusa and upgrading her, she's the best! :P
  • "Dead Shell": Downloaded this one a couple of days ago, but looks fun for now :P

One game i have to just relax and chill is one called "Loop", really nice puzzle

Also, if you like JRPGs, Kemco is a great developers studio, i played a lot of their games and they are amazing and free. You could start with the Asdivine ones :P

Let me know if you try them! :)

The Room
A good short puzzle game, but it's also on steam with better graphics.
Oh, my bad, and it's paid.

Open Flood is great, no ads at all and time flies by.
I also highly recommend 250+ Solitaire Collection, there are ads and you can choose to make them banner ads so as not to disrupt the game (that's what I did before I bought the game), but otherwise it's completely free.
0h n0! is pretty cool, too, I bought it to remove ads but if you don't mind ads it's a great game.

I haven't played too much with them, but Ristar (platformer), Underhand (Deck based game with a liittle bit of strategy and luck - own your own cult! :D ) and Stranger Things: The Game looks fairly good.
Not sure how's your buyer behaviour, but try checking your HB account, maybe you have a few android games around there, and then they are free as well :3

First Touch Soccer 15 (the 2014-2015 edition have the best gameplay) but I don't know if this one is still on the store, maybe try the new one but it will never be as good as the 15 (it's the only one I play with quizz games)

Sorcery - it's a book-based RPG, so there is lot of written descriptions, but also lots of choices, and it gets better with each installment.
The Room - great puzzle game about manipulating objects

Honestly, though, I've gotten more mileage out of using my phone as an SNES and GBA emulator to play JRPGs and SRPGs than I have from any native Android game.

not good for me play games whit a lot of text while in a car, i get more dazed, and the objective of find nice offline games are to avoid that while i'm distracted playing this offline games.
So puzzles or a lot of text games are bad recommendations.

I would assume that Terraria + Gamepad would be fun.
Crashlands is a good time sink.
Reed - not for into it but seems fun. (Jump and Run)
