They do this every once in a while. Its not anything to worry about.

It happens to me probably about every 6 months to a year. You've been rather lucky to avoid it so far then.

As others have said above, it's normal. I get them at least once a year, and one of those times was this week, like you.
When you press Yes, it'll send an email to your inbox with a confirmation link. As soon as you follow that, the green bar will disappear and the email will be confirmed for another length of time.

I wasn't sure if I'd include the details, as they'd be linear once you began the process ^^' But I inferred from your post (the "it seems to be a verification process" part) that you hadn't followed it yet... so added them just for you to know what to expect :)
An additional detail: even if you don't verify, it won't affect anything... I once had it there for various months, always postponing by closing whenever I logged in.

Oh, I hope it does protect my interest. Just a little taken by surprise if it has to do with new client rollout or I've done something suspicious? Been only playing more games recently hahaha XD Was more surprise reading that its just regular activity than it has something to do with the new rollout.

My thoughts too for hacking as I also had received a phishing friend request recently and a friend on the friendlist befriended that person for awhile probably by accident. Was thinking to mail Steam Support though we know how bad it is and its through the launcher itself so was more expecting to read that its due to new policy which i hasnt read in. :D

Do you use the steam app? Because I've noticed since I use the steam app I don't get asked anymore. But I have an alt account and that gets asked every 6 months or so. It could also be because I leave my main account and computer logged on almost 24 hours a day, so maybe it's only the act of 'signing in' that triggers it.

I dont use the app. I've only open to see the Steam Guard password so that's hardly using it since I do not log in the app. I did log in earlier and was online for a day yesterday, only exited for dinner today. When I relog in today within the same day, it prompted so I was kind of surprise. Thank you for the reply.

Yes, steam does this occasionally, I've got an impression that it happens if you login via client after some time of inactivity.

after some time of inactivity
Nah, instead I was online the whole day yesterday and perhaps for long times this week especially as I fall asleep with the PC on. Perhaps, instead that's the inactivity of not playing any games that they are tracking but I wouldn't know. Hmm interesting~

its probably been a year since that green thing appeared, and i let it there as it is just a bother to log in my steam account mail for that, especially since it will reappear not that long after.
If like me you are a lazy ass, you can ignore it.

Logged into Steam and it asked about my email which I've not changed for a long while. Anyone else was prompted to verify their Email? And it seems to be a verification process and not just a Yes or No.
*ps, might use this thread for future Steam Queries.
