I have the new game in my games list, along with the old one.
They added the game to the old packages so everyone should have the new version now.

They seem to be using a more efficient file format. Videos are now MKV instead of the previous proprietary format.

very glad to find the special edition in my library. the normal edition is still there too, which i'll probably never play, but since the special edition is the one i want i'm just glad i have that. i expect to like daedalic since i enjoy a good adventure game (i've played a lot of wadjet eye games really liked all but one of them), but haven't actually played any of their games yet. i have some (like whispered world) through bundles, and if i like a game from an indie bundle i'm likely to buy sequels at full price. this happened with the penumbra series, amnesia a machine for pigs (oops, sort of not a sequel), and blackwell epiphany.

just came across this and can't believe it,
Daedalic the Dev from The Whispered World has removed their game from the steam store, as you may know its broken at some points and to play through it to the end you may need some savegames which they hand out if you ask them on support just so you can continue the game.
Also many crashes are reported and overall many technical issues on the community hub.
Now there is this new entry http://store.steampowered.com/app/268540
It adds steamworks integration, trading cards, ingame achievements, soundtrack and a dev commentary hence it's called now a special edition.
For this few changes which is more like a little update they rerelease the game and previous buyers have to buy again.
Old entry is removed from store.
