Hi,

I personally see no reason why things like these are not yet implemented:

  1. I made a trade a year ago. And when I make some changes (edit), it will still say 1 year ago and not the date I made the changes. Whenever I see a date on other trades I have a feeling that it is long abandoned. If I sold all my games and I edit the trade to add new ones it should display the new date, so that users can know it is regularly updated. This of course wouldn't be a problem if we could delete trades/discussions, which brings me to number 2.

  2. I don't like to close trades and than make new ones. It doesn't delete them, only piles them up as locked trades which is useless. I saw users with 20+ locked trades which serve no perpose and only make server larger.

  3. Once the comment is deleted it will still occupy the same space instead of being completely deleted... Why does this website like to pile the shit up...

  4. I am constantly searching for game gifts on steamgifts.com, and I can see others including myself wasting time opening and posting offers on trades whose owners haven't been on the website in over a year. Why are those trades still active? Why aren't they locked/deleted by the system?

This website is great, but it wastes so much time and space. It needs spring cleaning.

I've been using the same trading thread for over 2 years, I just keep updating it with new games. If you see that a thread has been recently bumped you know that it is active, and if you're not sure just check the last page and see if the owner has been replying to offers.

I am using search box and it will find trades with most recent replies. People reply constantrly to trades abandoned over a year ago, so "pure waste of time" is if I need to go to 20 different profiles and last pages just so I could know if the trade is abandoned ...

After reading your reply to Mully I think that your particular need might be solvable with a script. You should give a try asking to one of the guys that make scripts for the site if they can do one for you to add that info, maybe it solves your problem and it will definitely be faster than waiting for the next redesign of ST.

- if you hover that asterisk near the thread creation date you can see when it was last edited
- number of threads is insignificant to database size.
- comments can be deleted/undeleted and other replies are nested on them, so they can't just disappear.
- you can check the edit date and last login by that user and kinda guess if they are still interested in trading or not.

  • Would it be so hard for them just to make a little more usefull like this: 11 months ago (Edited: today, 10:00am), so I don't have to hover over it every time. Also it should be seen like that too on the main trade page so I can avoid clicking on the trade altogether.
  • Maybe, but I don't see a reason why I shouldn't be able to delete my own trades/discussions.
  • Again, my comments, my decisions. I should be able to do whatever I want with my stuff.
  • Inserting those 2 small things on the main trade page would remove any need for checking.

Maybe they want people to spend 5x the time they need on this website, who knows...

but it's their site, their decisions. you don't own anything on sg/st. you agree with their ToS when you use their services.

Only the last one is actually important and helpful. Number one isn't that important. Number 2 is totally unimportant and it could help scammers. Number 3 is also unimportant and it could help scammers.
