It looks like an ugly turtle, and too complicated for me to even think about getting one.

Yeah, looks ugly even though being quite advanced. Also, is it plastic?...

After almost 20 years of PC gaming, I still don't really understand the need to have more than three mouse buttons… Okay, maybe I can get a fourth one's usability.
Anyway, since I regularly tilt my mouse to re-adjust it and I hold it in an angle to the left by default, I wouldn't be able to use most of the features of this one.

5 buttons are quite handy to have. Though button 4 & 5 are not buttons I often use in games, I tend to use them a lot when browsing. Never realized just how comfortable it is to have a "back" button on my mouse, but now I won't go back to just having 3 unless I absolutely have to. In games I only really use them in strategy games where zooming out is useful (think Homeworld or Company of Heroes).

yes, that works in a browser. i use gestures myself in chrome with an addon. but i have to say i love the additional buttons in my video player, for instance. back/forward is "jump 5 sec back/forward", which i really use quite often. and i use a button on my mouse for a clipboard tool i use in windows. so while i have absolutely no use for additional buttons in games, i use them frequently in my daily windows life. :)

Sounds nice, I have to admit it. For copy-pasting, I prefer it on my left hand, so I made a simple script that moves them to CapsLock+Q for copy, 1 for cut, W for paste, and A for a generic Undo. I guess I'm just too used to navigate with right and issue commands with left hand by now. (This is why I cannot really use controllers.)

that assignment makes sense for a normal clipboard, but i use a multi-clipboard tool which gives me a list of my last copied items (and favorites, which is super useful). i am sure i could do that with a 2-button combination (open menu, select item). but i prefer to do it with the mouse.

Primary fire, Secondary fire, Aiming, Melee, Special attack, Cast spell, Grenade, Blocking, Jumping, Crouching, Reloading, ...
Sure it's doable with your keyboard, but it's a lot easier with a mouse with more buttons. I personally like jumping and melee-ing with my two additional buttons. Left and Right mouse button are almost always used for primary fire and aiming (or secondary fire). Having more buttons just makes it more enjoyable to play.
And that's not even mentioning MMO and Strategy games which have lots of actions.

I still use both mouse and keyboard, but having more buttons for actions you use a lot (like jumping) is very useful. I use 4 out of 5 fingers on my mouse, my right pinky sadly has nothing to do. Ideally I'd want a mouse where I can use all 5 of my fingers though, 1 or 2 buttons per finger seems ideal to me. I played a long time like you did and didn't even touch the extra buttons on my gaming mouse, but once I got used to it, it just made my gaming so much more fun and I wouldn't dream of going back. If you haven't tried I would highly recommend you try it (if you have the chance), but you're free to play whatever way you want of course. Not really a big fan of this mouse though, it has some nice ideas however.

I had a gaming mouse once, some Logitech. I eventually brought it back to the store after about a week because I kept pressing the thumb buttons all the time and it felt weird because of that.
Even had mice with two scroll wheels for a while, which acted as a fourth button. Again, pressed it all the time, so I had to disable it in the driver.
Ever since that, I am sticking to the same cheap Logitech RX 250. Has three buttons and a scroll wheel, it is rather precise for my needs, and doesn't have any unneeded extremities i can click on all the time. ^.^

At least you can say you tried it, I guess it's very subjective what kind of mouse you like. If you're happy with it that's the only thing that really matters. Not sure how much DPI matter though, my gaming mouse has adjustable DPI, but I rarely use it because I don't really notice a big difference.

Umm... what's the point of this? It's like they're really specific in wanting the limitations of console controls .-.
One button for multiple things. Like the "Light/Heavy attack" or the more flawed "Scope/Zoom/Breathe" function.. What if I don't want to zoom? I'll be forced to, since I've decided to bind it to one button instead of 3 buttons, like it's worked for a long time.
I mean, if you want to consolify and simplify the control scheme, then go right ahead.

hmm, how will you be forced to? you can bind / no-bind whatever you like to ewhatever you like - if you don't like to use zoom the new way you don't bind it the new way ;)
For me it looks cool, but still too complicated to my liking - while I like idea of light/heavy buttons, trigger buttons etc, I'd prolly not use tilting or lifting as I'm not used to it. But someone who gets used to this mouse may find even better use out of it ;)
As for consoly elements - this is actually somewhat good, as far as I prefer PC controls, aka mouse and keyboard, there are games that simply work better with analog controls - for example almost anything driving related, because on keyboard you can only choose to move left or right while with analog controls you can choose how much left or right you want to move. Should it be steady and peacefull turn, or swhould you be turning left like crazy. If a game features only driving I can play it with controller instead, but if for example it has both driving and walking/shooting elements (like let's say GTA) I can see how it can be a good thing - you can have your precise mouse aiming for shooter segments, while having precive steering of analog for driving segments ;)

The tilt thing is good, yeah.
But the light/heavy click is nothing but hindering you. The heavy click will inherently be locked behind the light click, since it's like shifting gears on a bicycle. You can't go from 1st to 3rd gear without going through the 2nd one first, even if for a brief second. Clicking the heavy click could easily lock you into a different action.
Also, if it doesn't work like that and works through the actual force that you press it at, then it's very easy to have mistakes come in, like it calculating the force wrong or having to rely on your finger to be accurate enough to go through 3 varieties of strength. It's pretty difficult to actually do it, when under pressure in a game and when you're in a stressful situation.

like I said - for someone not used to it - yes it may be hard. but for example same is controller - you can easilly see who is the newbie with controller by looking at their analog sticks - newbie will always move them all the way, and differentiating between slightly left, medium left and all the way left will be hard for him, while for someone accustomed to controller it will be easy-peasy :>
As for light-hard click not neccessary, see that the click happens almost instantly (I'm no specialist so idk how long it take - 1ms? 3ms? 5ms), but however much it takes you only gotta put a check - if it's for example 5ms, if time between light and hard click was 1ms the driver should not recognize lightclick midway and recognize only the hardclick ;) Ofc it's just theory - I'm not manufacturing it so idk what actual solution they gonna use, but there are solutions for problem you stated ;)

So, too many features packed in a mouse. Also most of those features feels kinda useless if you.. I dont know.. use a keyboard or something.
Add to it that now you will have to measure the force with your click and mistake galore day & night.

like with any kind of controler it requires getting used to. Someone who only played on consoles for example, if you gave him your precious keyboard would make mistakes all the time as well b4 he'd get used to new control scheme ;) The same way you say it's bad because you may make a mistake with force of your click, someone may make a mistake and press W instead of Q on KB if he's now used to it ;)

meh. it's a controller with buttons.
too many buttons

For me it looks good (well I'm already accustomed to mouse with weird shape and lots of buttons ;p) but not at this price point. For 89-99$ I'd think about it, at this price I wish them all the luck, will see if it turns out to be any good - if it does like with any new idea other companies will jump on it and in few years it will be more accessible and then maybe I'll get it ;)

nailed it, watched the video thinking, if i can get a backer version for 50-70, thinking they'd pricepoint it at 80-100 i wouldve backed it. I mean some of the features seem useful, I like the flattened mouse buttons alot for example, and the straight finger buttons look useful for fps, the tilt and all that, meh, either way, at 149$ for the lowest available backer option I'm gonna pass.

^this
no matter how good it is, if for it's price I can do a big upgrade to my PC I'd prefer that. Only If I'd have already best high-end PC possible I'd consider paying more than 80-100$ for new peripheral (mouse, KB, controller, headset etc).
still - new thingies always cost a lot, so I hope it turns out good, other manufacturers start including some nice solutions like these in their stuff and in 2-3 years you'd be able to buy something like this for a price of current good gaming mouse :>

Not to kickstate the obvious, but there's a typo in the Subject line. :-P
Cool mouse, though. :)

The idea seems quite nice, but there must be plenty of games that will support these movements before I even think about buying it or not. I play a lot of different games, with ofcourse different controls and I am not looking forward to change controls manually. Also, too much controls for one hand will only make it complicated to control. I don't want to think about my controls, I want to think about my game.
Not only that, but I just upgraded from a €5 mouse that needed replacement every half year (I've bought 3 in total, so yeah..) to a ~€40 gaming mouse which I am very happy about and this mouse.... Yeah, it's way out of my price range.

I already use a Logitech G502. What's the point?
EDIT: Proteus core instead of the Spectrum
