Bulldozer

Closed the webpage, threw my computer out the window, lit my house on fire, hid under my bed, and called the cops.

I think he's reacting to your CPU. Bench tests tend to show Bulldozer architecture performing well under similar Phenom II chips. With that said, there has been some speculation that Bulldozer architecture is not operating at its full potential in Windows 7 and that it won't be until we get a Windows 8 release candidate to see how the Bulldozer architecture is intended to work. This is all due to differences in the way each operating system will handle threads.

edit: I have the same chip you purchased and I love it, by the way.

Just be careful on the Seagate Barracuda. I had a 1TB SGB (though I'm not sure if my product was the exact same as yours) and it started fucking with my shit from as early as day 3. After a month, the head broke and couldn't read the hard disk anymore.

Among other things. That's my only piece of advice, meant as a heads up from someone else that had your same idea not too long ago. Not meant to bash or insult, but to make you more aware, friend.

I've had a Seagate Barracuda for about 2 months till i got a Caviar Green 1TB (no issues, just ordered that HD and since they were out of stock they gave me that one for the time), in any case, warranty should cover it i suppose...

Yeah it was still under a warranty (1 year manufacturer) but a pain in the ass nonetheless. And I couldn't help thinking the new one I got was just going to do the same thing again until the warranty expired.

With that budget, you'd get better performance and spend less on a 2500k build. Get a 2500k and some cheap(in price) mobo like the Asrock Extreme3 Gen3, can CF/SLI and has all the main features you'd want/need. Would be cheaper and perform better than that build.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=434

Also what're you planning to do with this, gaming? What resolution do you play at? 7770 costs the same as a gtx 460 and peforms worse. Not really that great for price/performance at the moment.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/536?vs=542

Also, that PSU is a no no. Read reviews, it's awful and can't output anywhere near the rated wattage. Look for good brands like Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, OCZ. etc etc.

With a single card(460) you'd have more than enough room to spare with a quality 500w PSU. If you're going to SLI in the future, a (quality)650w will do fine.

Also, get two sticks of 4gb ram and benefit from dual channel, rather than 1 stick of 8. It'll be cheaper as well(not by much, but still)

Edit: If you save enough from switching to what this says you might be able to get a 2600k.

i highly suggest staying far away from AMD right now.... Pentium is blowing them out of the water... get an i5, or even an i3 and you will still be in better shape.

Get a multi cpu socket mother board so you can load dual xenon cores.

Intel... Intel... nope, doesn't ring a bell. Maybe it's because I'm a gamer and I like my quad cores to be 4 separate CPUs.

Seriously you're buying case at same price as GPU?

You better select cheaper case, and better GPU.

Where are you buying it all from? The only suggestions would be minor upgrades (mostly), so it's not worth changing the entire scheme (I think). You should be fine with that. :)

getting it from overclockers .co.uk

One suggestion would to knock the case down; spend the extra money on a better graphics card (gtx 560Ti does amazingly well on my mates' computers) and perhaps some case cooling; fans and perhaps a CPU cooler.

Man, VAT is like a punch in the nuts.
I concur with recommendations to save on the case, as well as maybe the motherboard, and try to spend more on graphics.

Eh, that video card. You could get a 6870 at about the same price and it performs better if I remember correctly.

And like others have mentioned; you can probably drop the case to a cheaper, nicer one and put that money towards a 560ti. Same goes with the motherboard. I never go over $100 when it comes to the motherboard.

That last gaming computer I built (in 2009) I put a $60 motherboard in it. It could play everything maxed out @ 1680x1050.

I'm not going to get into an argument about Bulldozer vs Sandy Bridge (Even though an i5-2500k IS better in just about every single thing), but I would highly recommend a slightly better graphic card. 7870 or 7850 should be released very soon and are well worth the cost upgrade. The 7770 isn't priced low enough compared to the 6000 series alternatives.

I also suggest you get 2x4GB RAM instead of a single 8GB stick.
And a HAF 912 case costs half as much and gives you plenty of room, plus you can remove one of the HDD cages for more space or airflow if you choose.
