Heya. So as you probably noticed, there are three NFS games on sale right now, being Hot Pursuit, Shift 1 & 2.

Question is: which one should I get? I know HP and Shift 2 are quite different... but since I can only get one, which one is the most enjoyable in your opinion?

I'm a NFS "veterant" I guess since I started with the first one back then on PSX, and went as far as Most Wanted 2 which was pretty bad in my opinion, the last one I enjoyed was Underground 2. Knowing that, apart from your personnal taste, which one am I going to enjoy the most? Discuss!

Shift 1. Hot Pursuit is a really awful game in my opinion, and Shift 2 is also a replica of Shift 1..

Hot Pursuit is great, other two are not. Get GRID instead of the shift games and you'll be fine.

Haven't played 2nd one but I remember that Grid was way too difficult.

Second one is better, the car handling has improved a lot IMO.

Grid and Shift aren't as arcady as the typical NFS games, they're going for more of a racing sim.

I agree, Grid is hard as nuts and the IA is a real... well, you know.

Which is why I was interested in Shift, I kinda need a sim but not as punishing as Grid. Hell, even Gran Turismo was way easier.

As I said in another post, I really miss NFS Underground (and 2). About your question, go for Hot Pursuit, Shift and Shift 2 are "driving simulators wannabes".

The only one I can speak of is Shift 1- that one is pretty much racing and only racing, no cops at all and the races seem to be "legitimate". So if you prefer running from the cops, maybe Hot Pursuit is the better option, or at least that's what I've heard.

If you want arcade racing then go for Hot Pursuit. Because Shift is more about actual racing. I prefer Shift 2 most.

Very much this. One is arcade oriented, the other simulation based.

Shift 2 is 15€ in France, while in Uk as an example, both games are the same price. So yeah, I'm def. going to trade them for tf2 keys.

NFS Undercover is also on sale and imo while not as good as most wanted, underground or carbon, it's a solid game.

Simply, if you want arcade game (like all classic NFS) - hot pursuit (not undercover, that one is horrible!)
And if you want simcade (compromis between arcade and simulation), then buy shift or shift2.

Grab the Shift ones if you want something between arcade und simulation.

If you want an arcade racer grab Hot Pursuit, even tho it has a (terrible) rubberbanding AI. (but whatever you do, do not buy undercover. its the worst NfS title yet)

I decided not to buy any of them. I would like to try them but after that I usually realize I don't like driving games.

Shift 1, shift 2 apparently has toned down graphics of 1.

Depends on what you want. SHIFT is more geared towards simulation (even though driving still feels arcade-ish), and it's a lot harder game to play than HP. I had no problem collecting all the stars in HP (IIRC max of 3 stars per level, depending on your position, while Shift also had additional challenges in races)., but it became hard in Shift in the later races.

So, if you want a fun game, with decent driving model and not much stress, get HP. If you want tuning, more realistic driving model and a harded game, get Shift.

Out of those 3, Hot Pursuit. And the last one you enjoyed was Underground 2? Just want to know, why didn't you enjoy Most Wanted?

If the OP's referring to the 2012 game, I can understand why.

I didn't like that one either. But I'm talking about the original Most Wanted game. That came after Underground 2 so I was surprised that he didn't enjoy it because when it came out, everyone I knew loved it including me.
