Groups are for exclusive member giveaways. Some have rules other don't. Some even have soo complicated rules that they want a birth certificate and your soul just to join but offer nothing or some basic games (never understood why people do that). The idea is to keep member numbers low so you have more chances to win and also to keep out bots.

Cutting out the bots is a great idea. That's the biggest drain on the goodwill of the site.
I'm all for the karmy-warmy aspect of fate and the luck associated with it and so best not take up a spot in your group but best of luck with it all and thanks for helping me get a better understanding of how it all works :)
