So, there's 75% discount on both, a bit more if you buy them as a pack. I have both on my list, cause they look pretty interesting, but I'm not totally sure wether to buy it or not. Someone owns them (or just one) and can give me their opinion?

I don't know about Volume, but I've played Thomas Was Alone and it's definitely enjoyable. I haven't finished it yet because I have way too much games to play... But yeah, Thomas Was Alone is a fun game :)

I was just about to buy the pack, and what actually made me go back was a review for it in which basically it was said that it is a game about making some rectangles jump with a shitty story attached,

There's no real story that matters at all, it's humour + atmosphere that makes it good.

Well simply said it is a game about making rectangles jump. In my opion it's in a fun way, because there's little puzzles and you have to figure out in which order to move them. As for the story, I think it's funny.
But it's all subjective ;)

Not played Volume, but Thomas Was Alone is superb. Not a challenging game (simple puzzle platformer) but it's so engaging, really good voiceover that it gives life to these simple shapes.

please tell me more. I have this fear when I'm about to buy a game that it will not be like I expect and then regret the money waste. Was it too simple? Dull?

The gameplay itself is very simple, it's the narrator and story that draw you in. It's very much the "indie darling" type of game. Tough to say whether you will find it "worth it" or not, as it's certainly a subjective experience. I personally really enjoyed it and still think back on it fondly.

However, I could easily see someone having an experience akin to ambidot's. Especially now, way after release, where the hype and fandom can have you going in with ultra-high expectations. When originally, part of the magic was such a surprising experience from an unassuming indie title.

I like Thomas Was Alone, and I agree with the doc. Watch some of a walkthrough for the game. If you like the tone of the story, get the game. If you don't like the story, the platforming won't save it for you.

Thomas is a simple puzzle platformer. You don't play it for physic or some beautiful gameplay, it's the atmosphere and the narration that make it good.
