Kids & Gaming
Reserved for childish reasons ;)
I guess I should have added option(s) for Do you game with your parents too ;)

dont have kids, but i dont see the problem of gaming with them, i actually think gaming is good for several things, for one learning another language (not an english speaking nation), second its good for reflexes and logical thinking, then some games will test patience and willpower to keep going.
on a sidenote: Do send them out for real social contact and interaction and ofcourse fresh air. you dont want them to turn into a bad social raging kid who is stuck to its screen :)

I drag both my kids down to help out at my allotment at the weekends and take them for walks at least two evenings a week :)

You won't be able to drag your kids for a walk soon. Get them interested in some activities - sports, drama/acting, dancing, singing, modelling. Just make sure they like it!

I don't have kids, but I have a younger brother and younger sister to play with, we often play some LEGO games or some racing games like Sonic All-Star Racing Transformed and other genre too.

I don't have and probably will never have kids, but I gamed with my cousins' kids. We played The Forest, Outlast, GTAV, Minecraft and Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
I used to provide games (some by illegal means, shame on me) to my uncle's son and we watched each other play (although at that time it was annoying to me, 'cause I didn't like when people look at me gaming). Got him into Pokemon, L.A. Noire, on his own he picked up Star Wars and Battlefield. Now he likes Naruto, from what I know. I remember that once when I was visiting my uncle in Germany I went to the store with the kid and I bought some games and the cashier lady asked me if I know that the games I'm buying are not suitable for kids and I told them I'm buying for myself (which was part true).
Oh, and one time I played Settlers with son of the son of my grandma's sister xDD
Generally playing games with kids is fun, 'cause they often have very unique perspective about what is happening in game.

That is certainly true :)

I just finished playing Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons co-op with my 7 year old daughter, and we enjoyed it a lot. I thoughts about posting a thread asking about similar games, but ended up not posting.
My five years old (6 soon) is addicted to LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. We sometimes play co-op on that, or he plays with his sister.
I also played Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) with him, and he enjoyed it quite a bit at the beginning, but at some point it because a little bit difficult, and if there's something my kids hate seeing is the characters dying, even if I play them, so we stopped.

My son is still too young (2years) but I'm sure I'll play video games like Minecraft with him as well. ...although I'll set a limit of time for each day

time limit 23hours, 59 minutes & 59 seconds per day ;) kappa. A friend of mine when growing up had to read x amount of a book before being able to play x time on the apple classic which I guess worked and helped literacy skills but also made gaming seem > than reading so idk if that is the bets way of doing it but yeah if too much time is spend behind the screen rather than doing other activities, I guess time limits is a good way of doing it. Saying that I play a fair bit of games when I got my psOne but still have a lot of other interests & not addicted as didn't even play games during uni saying that I was 15 when i got my psOne so maybe couldn't get brain washed into it as easy

Yes, we play L4D together. On CS:GO, I let them play with bots

My eldest daughter is at university now so we don't often get time to game together, my youngest is still currently at home (despite repeated attempts to get her to move out :P ) and so we often play Diablo 3, Borderlands, Minecraft or any number of other games together.
It's harder with younger children though to find the right balance but once they are late teens or adults, much easier as long as interests still collide.

I played with my 9-year daughter nearly all Legogames, Battleblock Theatre, Sonic Racing and a lot of Wii or WiiU Games (Mario 3D World, MK8, Balanceboardgames, Just Dance and Kirbygames) also she loves to watch me playing Deponia.

so they get use to this modern technology early that wasn't round when we were, times change saying that I to don't like the idea much but there are some studies I've seen that say otherwise

You forgot the option "I game with someone else's kids".
And wow, did that sound a whole lot less creepy in my head ...
I have been known to game with my twin 7 year old niece and nephew when I babysit them. :X
I bought a Wii so we could game togther. He loves the LEGO games, so we play co-op, and she loves the Mario and Zelda games. :)

I realised as I was composing the OP it had to be a lot more carefully worded than I expected ..

I am a father of two and with my eldest now at the age (7) when he is starting to take an (unhealthy) interest in video games I've started to play video games with him when I can. We currently play Minecraft Pocket Edition together on our Kindles & Lego games on the PC; We are currently playing Lego Star Wars. I am keen to keep this as a common interest we can do together.
I wondered whether other members play video games with their kids and if so have they any tips to pass on or experiences to share?
BTW, there was a good discussion on kids games a month or so back :) I've made the obligatory GA to accompany this type of discussion post, Plastiland, which was mentioned in the kids games post although I've yet to test whether my son likes this one.
In case anyone ever wonders about my "final" poll options. They are usually varieties of potato so count that as your potato option. I have an allotment which I am shortly going to take my eldest son down to plant some potatoes & broad beans :)
