I think it's fairly safe to say Valve will not need to put much effort into marketing it at all, let alone use such gimmicks as preorder bonuses.

Probably the only thing a pre-order will give you will be a TF2 headcrab hat and a crowbar for someone.

I think no. Half-Life 3 is one of the most anticipated games now. If it's going to give you something in pre-order, it would be some TF2 items (headcrab hat would be awesome!).

I really really doubt that, pre-order bonuses wil probably be TF2 hats :P

OMG! I'm pre-ordering that only for the Crowbar!
And GTA V pre-order bonus... A Blimp! I'm pre-ordering an XBOne just so I can get GTA V.. to fly a Blimp!

My biggest worry is that Half-Life 3 is over-hyped and people will be disappointed even if they would make a good game, because they are expecting for something perfect that just cannot be made. Valve could see that and decide not to realease it at all to make sure people won't be disappointed.

My biggest wish is that Valve pulls a Blizzard and HL3 turns out being disappointing as fuck, I will bathe in the sweet tears of Valve fanboys.

I think on the final day of the sale the background will change to a half life 3 background and you can pre-order it for 10% off. I believe this to be true because there is only 10 summer getaway cards and more days in the actual sale.

What about a DLC where Gordon finally starts speaking?:D

They didn't do anything like that with portal 2, so hopefully it'll be the same for hl3.

Valve is already making more than enough money with Steam, they don't really need dlc to get more money out of their games.

Half-life 3 in going to happened Valve knows there are too many fan boys waiting to sell their house just to get their hands on that game..

Yeah I know right valve has such a big problem with pushing DLC on us remember the time when that happened?

Well lets look at it this way,

Half Life 1 - Gold Source (Old engine, if you never knew, modded from Quake's Engine iirc)

Half Life 2 - Source Engine (Completely ground up written engine for the game)

Half Life 3 - Source 2? (Gabe confirmed the engine himself, complete rewrite again iirc)

There are plenty of rumours about that and we know Source 2 is in development, Gabe said himself. So the way we should look at it is that Half Life 3 most likely doesn't even exist as source code atm, if the engine they plan to use for it is a complete rewrite which could make sense since it is another major release, then the game would not be any further than story boards and concept art since they don't even have an engine to start anything on. Unless they made it on the current Source engine like Episode 3 would have been.

Idk why I even brought this up, but it is just my observation on the matter taking the concrete info we know about the future of Half Life and none of the "omg Gamescom 2013 did u c dt hl3 pictur bruh?" which is most likely fake like a lot of the previous similar leaks. But whatever, I have seen few posts that logically look at the situation this way, in other words "taking years for it, will probs be amazeballs" or "taking years, duke nukem forever number 2" Anyway, why I just posted all this I don't even know. So like rage at me or +1 me or however you forum these days XD
