Did you know Alan Turing, who is considered to be the father of theoretical computer science and artificial intelligence, was prosecuted for "gross indecency" in the form of homosexual acts, and later sterilized as an alternative to imprisonment? He was granted a posthumous pardon in 2013 by Queen Elizabeth II, and the "Alan Turing law" is now an informal term for a 2017 law in the United Kingdom that retroactively pardoned men cautioned or convicted under historical legislation that outlawed homosexual acts. Poor Turing, it's such an interesting take on how times change that his name is inevitably in deciphering, or in the history of WW2, but he was ostracized for being homosexual - literally while saving countless lives with his work.

Indeed... Humanity has a lot of bright moments, but also a lot of very dark moments. He was part of both, and he will serve as a reminder of both, through history that should never be forgotten.
