For those of you following along with the Story of a Hot Summer in New York, told through giveaway blurbs, today is ... hot. I know that's a surprise. It's very hot, 11 degrees hotter than yesterday. We'll have a break in the heat later in the week - fingers crossed! - if the promised rain arrives properly. I love summer storms. Disruptive as they are, they make the air crackle. If the early forecasts are right, and they never are, we may even have a few days where they temps don't break 80 degrees (26.7 for the C people).
Both of our outdoor shows of A Midsummer Night's Dream were cancelled this weekend - a startling downpour on Saturday, and a light but constant soak on Sunday. These are the risks of outdoor performance. This week we move into the theater, and we'll have seven shows with a roof over our heads and a dressing room and all mod cons and such. But we won't get to run down garden paths in the afternoon sun shouting Shakespeare in full voice. There's nothing quite like it.
This is an old key, recently revealed. It should be good, but these days who knows. If you have any trouble with it, please let me know. Enjoy!
