I am about to start reading Harry Potter. Have you read it? What do you think of it? Which one is your favourite book and why?

My favourite one is Half Blood Prince. I can't tell you why, If I do I am gonna spoil everything ^^

I read them, and quite enjoyed the series. I think my favourite might be Deathly Hallows, for how it went completely off the established rails.

I read them... twice. I really liked the series..
Although, the wizarding world should really realize that phones are better than owls. It would save them a lot of trouble.

I have not read any of the books (nor seen any of the movies), so I cannot give any further recommendations along that line :).

"Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality" is the best one, I think... at least among Harry Potter books.
...
The scarfed face turned to look at her, and the voice said, "Not unless you can name the six quarks or tell me where to find Hermione Granger."
"Up, down, strange, charm, truth, beauty, and why are you looking for her?"

I've read if after watching one of the movies on TV (Prisioner of Azkaban) at a bored night, to my surprise the story seemed pretty interesting, and housemate had all books so I asked her if I could borrow them.
Book is waaaay better than movies btw (well, as pretty mutch the usual on book and movie adaptations) as there's a LOT of more details and scenes that just would not fit or be as interesting in a movie that in the book can be really well worked.
hard to choose a favorite, the first two are more childlish, Prisioner of Azkaban is when start getting really a more serious tone so may be one of my favorites, but all the latter ones are really good!

Read 'em all multiple times. Much better than the movies, the characters give such more depth. I guess my favourite would be Deathly Hallows, but not by much. Prisoner of Azkaban was a close second, and really has more power, but the final battle of Hogwarts is just too good a scene to overshadow.
