Fallout: New Vegas

Considering the sheer amount of Russian and Polish people on this site, check the winner's Steam profile for this game. Those of us living in Eastern Europe have a different edition of this game that has a completely different appID and has its own separate community page, which means we can technically enter for this game despite owing Fallout: New Vegas.

The Eastern one? Normally, the same as the Western one, but it is one of the games you could get from a Russian trader and activate on your account without any VPN or some other tricks. The downside is that the Eastern version has priority in the client, so if you have both games (which is possible and a frequent issue), then the Eastern one would start always, even if you click the Play button on the Western one. Also, it has regional languages (English as the core version, plus Russian, Polish, and Czech), but no others (so no French, Spanish, or German).

It is a separate game, but the two FO: New Vegas editions are cross-linked in the store, which confuses the hell out of the client. So it just defaults to the one with a higher appID (22490 vs 22380) when you try to press play. Otherwise they can exist alongside, they even have different install directory paths.

Activating the weird one made my proper one's install queue up a 0KB update. Any idea why, since you're an expert on this game with your 999 hours in it? :D

Because the file sizes don't match up, and because the client derped. New Vegas randomly queues a dummy update for many even if they own only one version, and so far Valve provided no explanation (as expected).

Interesting! I didn't know you could own both. Last time I checked up on it, it ruined stuff and someone said in this case you wouldn't be able to play either.
I've gotten this game yeeeeeeeeeears ago through a trader. I was so sad to see the 'eastern' on the account details + it doesn't show as owned on the store page. I remember I wrote a steam support ticket about it, and they basically just told me to deal with it lol.

Oh well, thanks for the info! I might check up whenever this game goes cheap and I have money for it. :)

Eh, that version works the same, English is there, only thing is restricted is that you cannot write a review for it. But yes, if you want a Western one, you need to remove this from your account and re-buy the thing.
