The Stage

A short stage entering the Pyrenees with one well known mountain to be conquered; the Col d'Aspin. Going up it isn't the problem but the descent is quite tricky and in bad weather could be quite dangerous. The riders will need all their experience to get to the finish without losing time; expect the general classification riders to attack Chris Froome here as they know they can gain some precious seconds.

As to who will win the stage; Alberto Contador, Alejandro Valverde, Daniel Martin, and Fabio Aru are all top contenders for this one.

The village of Samatan is a former stronghold of the counts of Comminges and the capital of foie gras. So if you like the livers of force-fed ducks and geese, you now know where to go.
