I started brewing mead (like a viking) and learned that in the USA you can legally brew up to 100 gallons of beer/mead/cider/wine per person per year (up to 200 gallons per house). Which is a lot to me, but you are not allowed to sell and don't even think about distilling spirits, the government loves their tax income and doesn't allow competition there.

Always wanted to try brewing something myself, but never got into it. I guess i can add it to New Year's resolution :D

There are many paths to take, I got inspired by Patrick Rothfuss (https://blog.patrickrothfuss.com/2013/09/on-the-making-of-metheglin/). This quote from that blog summarized my feelings “Vikings made this, and I guarantee that they did not own a hydrometer. They just thumped it together in a barrel and then drank it and pillaged some shit.”
So I got a book (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/26483940-make-mead-like-a-viking) and started in my garage. I don't even use a thermometer :)
