Very challenging inquiry, mate. I tend to rank my affinity for any artist based on their genre, thus someone like Jimmy Eat World would likely qualify as my favorite among alternative pop, OneRepublic for contemporary pop-rock, The Eagles in classic rock, Dispatch for genre-fusion, John Coltrane for jazz, Bach for classical, Damien Rice for folk, Andrea Bocelli in operettas... the list goes on and on.

I suppose that if I had to choose a single artist I'd go with the safe bet of Dispatch. Their eclectic style, which includes a mix of folk, rock, pop, reggae and even ska, would ensure that if I couldn't listen to any tunes other than their own, at least I'd never be bored.

That's a difficult one, but I'd at the moment it's Behemoth... Strong lyrics, songs, ambient on their clips/shows and I'm a serious fan on how Nergal, the vocalist and lead guitarrist, passed through his recent leukemia.
