Fostering Apocalypse is about looking after the small demon who's been foretold to end the world, while performing QTEs and minigames to stay fed in a beautiful hellscape and fight off the other people who want to use her for their own ends. Or just get rid of her before she fulfils her purpose. It's very short, but I thought it was a nice glimpse of what the studio might produce with more time and budget! (If you've bought any huge Itch bundles, it may be in there, so doublecheck before entering!)
Thank yous are always welcome, but if you'd like to answer a question instead: what's your favourite apocalypse setting in a game, book or other media?

I love the books Swan Song and The Stand and The Postman (the book not the movie)
The Last of Us is also a favorite of mine.
Thank you for the GA :)

i like that this vn has a pretty unique art style!

Yeah, the graphics are definitely a highlight! It's not quite a VN. I'm not sure how to describe it, but it is very scripted (with a few different endings.)

In games the world of Fallout is my absolute favourite, and I also really liked Enslaved: Odyssey to the West's world.
As a book, my winner is Malevil.

Malevil sounds fascinating. I'd never heard of it and there's barely any information about it on the Wikipedia page, but it sounds like it got adapted into a film?

Yes it is, but haven't seen it yet. Also it's an oldie movie, from 1981 - which is quite fitting as the book takes place in 1977 :)

Roadside Picnic was a great read and I found it through learning it partly inspired the STALKER universe, besides that one, a guilty pleasure of mine was Maze Runner and its weird post apocalyptic experiment world.
Thanks for the giveaway!

I've definitely heard of Roadside Picnic before, though I honestly can't recall where I first did. I should really get around to reading that one of these days.

Your giveaway made me buy the game!

Yay, I'm so happy to hear that! One of the reasons I try to make giveaways public, Level 0 and games people haven't heard of is so people can find things they might be interested in. :D

In books I think The Stand has to be my fav apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic setting. I know the first comment also mentions The Stand, but it's really so well done. So bad the ending is meh.

Usually I really resonate with a zombie apocalypse setting.. but they are always quite similar, so it's hard to pick one game 😅
for instance when the walking dead tv series (and also the game) got released, I felt really immersed in that world.
But somehow my hype for the two series died down over time..
and as others mentioned before, The Stand is another favorite of mine. I'm currently on my first readthrough and only halfway done, so I don't know how disappointing the ending might be

I think I've seen MBH play this one, and iirc it was unexpectedly cute in some parts haha.

I'll say this from a perspective of someone living in a small country; give me one of those Dawn of the Dead (1978) experience, give me a mall all for myself (and a handful of people who in the end is as corrupt as me so we all turn on each other) in a low populated town in Norway and I'll have fun for a while.

Fallout is a good apocalyptic setting in games, I usually go for fantasy or scifi though instead of post-apocalypse.
I've also read a couple of book fantasy/scifi series where it turns out that the setting was Earth all along (post-apocalyptic Earth in the far future etc), which is an interesting premise.
