After the passing of my mom in November, I have so much more free time. So I guess it's time to start building good habits for myself. Let's start with writing more in my giveaways :). Maybe someday I'll actually put all these little notes into a discussion.
Self-Improvement Diary 1/5/24
One of the books, my older brother recommended to me is "Atomic Habits".
He hasn't read it himself, but he said I probably need it so I can be more efficient.
One of the things I picked up from it. There are 3 layers.
1st layer: Your beliefs about yourself
2nd layer: Your Habits
3rd layer: Your Goals
Every layer loops around each other.
For example,
Goal: I want to read more books
Habit: Start carrying book/kindle everywhere you go
Belief: I enjoy reading
You can have the goal drive your habit of reading books or just making the habit of carrying books around everywhere will force you read more or just give you the ability to jump a little higher.
The author really wants you to have your beliefs drive your habits from your core. Telling yourself that you enjoy reading is kind of a crazy idea, but for me I guess maybe I was just lucky to already enjoy reading from spending so much time in libraries in my childhood.
Right now, I want to get back being able to drive a car. Being without a car for 5 years has really gotten me healthier with all the walking done, but I'd still like to not be a be a burden on my friends.
I'm going to try rent a car a few times a month so I can get some more practice. I hired a driving tutor last month for the price of 3 AAA games. He said I'm decent, but I could use some on freeways and parallel parking.

sorry to hear that, it's never an easy situation. I hope you are doing as ok as possible, given the circumstances.
Driving is like learning to go on a bike, once you learn you never fully forget but you'll need some practice to get back at it, so what you are doing is a good plan! my habits for 2024 would be trying to control my eating cause I need to lose a few kgs and try to see if meditation works

I really hope your meditation helps you control your eating. There's so many factors when it comes to losing weight. Food you eat. Your hormones. Stress levels. This video summarizes a lot of it really well:
