I miss the old Hitman games, I feel like they had a cohesive way of delivering a story, or is it just me?

when I was a kid in an orphanage on vacation, there was an old computer on which there was some old hitman, it was the graphics of the first Tom Ryder, it was boring walking around shooting at dummies, so it seems to me that it's really nostalgia °-°

I did feel that it was still following a mission objective and it was differently delivered. I remember when I've played Hitman 2, you had to retire as an assassin and hid in a church or monk area and I found that interesting.
I've played Hitman 1, the newer ones, but I felt the story was jumping from one to another and there was no continuation for your objectives and missions. I might give this game a try once I get all of the series.
