I don't think it helped any that, the major draw of the Saints Row series [as opposed to GTA, Just Cause, True Crime/Sleeping Dogs, etc] was in ts full co-op. Likewise, I get the impression that I'm not the only co-op gamer who is inherently favorable towards the play style, able to get decent fun out of even an average game so long as it has co-op.
When I look at the reviews, I see a lot of users who were on the fence over how to review it, with both positive and negative reviews criticizing the "generic" feel of the game. Had AoM retained co-op, it's likely more of those on the fence who ended up reviewing negatively would have leaned towards positive, and it's likely additional positive reviews would have come in from dedicated co-op gamers.
Of course, there's also the fact that AoM has a higher retail price than Saints Row IV ($60 for AoM on PC, versus $50 with an immediate $10 discount, to a total of $40 on PC for Saints Row IV) and fans of the series were expecting a "bigger and better" continuation of the series, especially given the price tag [nevermind that SRIV was already down to $5 preowned price on console and $5 sale price on PC by the point of AoM's release] rather than a more casual offshoot of the SR theme.
In essence, I think a lot just comes down to faulty expectations, and to the trend of many gamers not really looking too deeply into games before rushing to buy them at their release. Of course, critical reviews for AoM mostly range at 70%, and trend downward, while SR ranged between 70 and 90%. From that, we could assume that there's an actual difference between the games.
On the other hand, all the criticisms from critical reviews seem to be limited to complaining about the [cartoonish] atmosphere of the game rather than the gameplay (though some critical reviews, like Kotaku's, actually praise the game for the same reason!). Everything else seems to be the exact same kind of criticisms the SR games had, in regards to the game having a crude style of humor and repetitive encounters.
Really, as someone who hasn't played the game, I'm looking through gameplay videos and all I see is a darn fun looking game. In fact, the graphics are prettier than in SRIV, and we have an emphasis on driving again (a lack of which really hurt SRIV, in my opinion, given how enjoyable driving is a core appeal of GTA-style games). With both critical and user reviews lacking any firm criticisms of the game, and nothing seeming off with gameplay videos, it's hard to see any clear reason why anyone'd dislike the game, unless their expectations were off to begin with.
Anyway! Sorry for the long post. Much appreciate you giving us the change at this. ^.^

Oh this sucks. I was really happy to win this game as I love the saint row series. But it looks like it has a region lock :(((

Yeh it's a shame. Weird that it said ROW. Accidents happen. :)

Yeh it actually does say ROW. That is really strange. It should activate just fine then. :S
If you don't mind going trough the trouble. Maybe you can send humble bundle a message to tell them it is not a ROW key and would like a key that is is ROW.
Don't be sorry, this is clearly a humble bundle screw up. :)

It is a very friendly offer. Thank you. But you really don't have to. This is clearly humble bundles mistake. You shouldn't have to pay for their mistake.
If they won't resolve it, just request steamgifts to delete this giveaway so you can remake it. (only for the usa I guess?)
Thank you for trying :)

Yessssss! Awesome :) Activated successfully. I really appreciate it that you did that for me. Very cool! I hope it didn't cost you too much. Really nice of you :) Thank you!
Also, welcome to my whitelist. :) I My whitelist list is small these days and I don't make them often, but when I do. They are generally halfway decent unbundled games.
Really thanks a lot!

Also, I don't have a wishlist because I remember the games I want. And this was actually one of them. (I didnt say because I didnt want to make you feel bad :P) In the saints row series, it was the silly mindless killing that made it fun too :D. So I am sure I will love this game too. I hope to install and give it a try tomorrow...
//edit: actually if you look at my steam background picture you can see how much I like the saint row series :P shaundi <3
