I was under the impression you weren't allowed to give away free games. Which would make that a difference. This not true anymore?
Another difference would be the fact that you could actually get the game via Humble, rather than taking a very slim chance of winning it. Which im going to assume people would much prefer. No?

You can, just do not receive any point in return, and your other argument, you can enter all the publications of this game and look at the number of people who preferred to try to take the game in this way, even knowing that they could get it for free on their own, so no, not everyone prefers that way.

Statistics based on entries into these giveaways? You're assuming everyone reads comments and knows about the free copy. Don't.
Do we have statistics on how many people accepted the free copy on Humble? Lol.
For all we know, everyone who entered these giveaways already accepted a free copy on Humble and simply didn't activate it right away.
I was really just trying to make a point that there was a difference, one you were 100% going to recieve, the other not so much.
