Just want to say, thanks for pointing out the victim-blaming in the thread - I almost went along with what the person had said. (Also, I checked their Steam profile and saw a list of Mental Disorders that they wrote - that seems to explain to me a lot of their strange thought process. Hopefully they are getting the help they need for their mental illnesses.)

Try not to beat yourself up about it, I used to think much the same way. On a cognitive level, that line of thought seems reasonable at first. Most problematic thinking stems from an initial point of logic-- after all, that person wouldn't be a victim if they hadn't put themselves in that situation. It's only upon further examine that we realize this argument doesn't hold up with reality. It's easy to fall into these mindsets because we're often socially encouraged to think this way.
The best we can do is stay vigilant to dangerous framing such as victim blaming. Kudos to you for keeping an open mind! We must always keep learning.
