Yeah, someone else mentioned that, I kinda forgot. :( I was thinking about looking for some, but I'm so lazy, and nowadays Steam is so full of that stuff I can't tell which is a real game and which is crap. :(

Good luck! :)

You know, I was going to make a link to some fake Groupees bundle, but then I thought wait a minute... Haven't bought any Groupees bundles in a while, I hope they are still around...

Yes, they are, fortunately... :) Kinda feels like I should download all my music purchases, though... Just in case...

Hmm, this was in the otaku green light bundle 66.6, but the keys were revoked so the winner will get Arkhelom 3D instead. I think that's how it works around here, right? Close enough?

Good luck! :)

I guess I'll give it a shot, reviews seem to indicate it is a decent game, but seems far from perfect. I've seen you been playing the game, in case I don't win, I'd appreciate if you could tell me your thoughts about it. Is it as hard as Dark Souls?

Thanks for the chance :)

Sadly I was still downloading Code Vein yesterday, that was only asf "playing" it... :( Looks like it's finished, so I can play for real now... :) I'll let you know if you don't win... :)

Actual good luck! :)

I haven't finished the game yet, but yeah, I'd say "decent" is fair so far. :) There's a lot of soulsy things in it, and some of them are pretty good, but it doesn't feel quite the same.

You can spend a lot of time with the character creator, so if your plan is making the perfect animu boobie girl you're in luck. :)

It's definitely not as hard as Dark Souls. Hmm...

You go exploring with one of several NPCs, each with different funky weapons and powers and whatever. If they suck they are still going to take half of the enemy's attention away from you. And if they don't suck, you can probably hang back and let them do all the work. So in that respect it's like summoning a helper in Dark Souls. :)

You rest / revive / warp at bonfires. Upgrade your stuff at the blacksmith. Buy crap from vendors. You kill things, get souls, spend souls to level up or buy stuff. You don't choose stats when you level up, you automatically get more health and stamina. There are oodles of powers and things, some active and some passive, different weapons and armour (which can be upgraded) and consumable whatevers. So there's a lot of options on how you want to play, and if you get bored doing one thing you can respec on the fly and try something else.

Oh, there's also a map that shows your footsteps as you explore, and important stuff is marked for you. At first it's blank, only showing your footsteps, but you reveal parts of it by finding the whatever that's laying around somewhere. And the map has a percentage listed, so you know when you've revealed the whole thing.

If you die somewhere, you can see exactly where your blood stain is on the map, and can (hopefully) go back to pick it up. But it's not a big deal, if you lose those souls you can just farm for more.

The story - eh? I haven't played enough to be sure, but so far there haven't been any surprises. We'll see... :)

Maybe the game is a bit too formulaic, like someone had a lot of money on the line and decided to play it safe. Playing it feels kinda like Dark Souls, but...

Dark Souls, hmm... Like the cool kid who didn't know they were cool, I guess? There's a tutorial area, and it teaches you how to play, but you have to do the work yourself. If you miss something important and get stuck it's perfectly happy to let you stay stuck, forever. Figure out how to play, or quit. :) Learn the story, or just kill stuff - it's your game, do whatever you want. :)

Code Vein really doesn't want you to get stuck. There are cutscenes all over the place, and dozens of little pieces of backstory you walk through to unlock funky powers. Back at your home base there's even a magic hot spring to get a recap on the story so far. Somehow everyone's wearing a towel inside the hot spring, but I assume modders are hard at work fixing that...

Oh, there's a ridiculous "Anor Londo" style area, full of flying buttresses and convoluted paths and wandering around confused, backtracking, locked doors, etc. But it's all for show. The minimap (and the helpful breadcrumbs) turn a frustrating nightmare into a chore. The whole thing is path - it looks cool I guess, but there's no reason for it to exist.

I think the map is the big thing. It makes everything easier. If it shows a path with no breadcrumbs, you know you haven't been to that part yet. If it says "75%" you know you're still missing something. Chests, locked doors, NPCs, you don't have to remember any of it.

Hmm, did I mention boobies? There are boobies everywhere.

I'm not sure how much replay value there will be, or different endings or choices or whatever, but so far I'd say it's worth playing. :)

So many words!

Thanks for the super complete answer!

I indeed heard great things about the character creator ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I guess I'll keep trying to win the game here or I'll wait for a 75% sale, since our regional price is not that friendly :/

One last question; I've been clearing my backlog, starting from my SG wins, and among them is Dark Souls 2 that I won a couple years ago. Now, I've never played any souls games, so I was wondering, do I need to play the original Dark Souls to play the second one? And, could you recomend me some game/s that could ease me into playing it? Since I feel I'll be terrible at the game.

Thanks again!

Dark Souls 2, hmm...

No, you will miss all the references to people/things/whatever from the first game but they don't matter. :) It's just some fanservice-type stuff, and noticing them doesn't provide any advantage or benefit to you at all. You're not dumped into Book 2 of some fantasy series, it's completely self-contained and you can learn everything you need from that game alone.

There's nothing like a secret door or a treasure you can find because you know blah blah blah is talking about so-and-so, and therefore whatever.

Oh, hey, I just remembered the stat Adaptability, that thing is sooooo important. You need lots of that. You will hate the game so much if you don't level that up. :) I suggest looking up precisely how much you need because I can't remember anything, but it's about 99% mandatory in a way that it just should not be. :(

Hmmm, that's a tough question...

Unfortunately I don't play a lot of Dark Souls-like games, so I dunno what would be a good way to ease into it... :(

Maybe some rogue-like games, or rogue-lite or whatever they call it? Not to learn how to play, but to get the right attitude. :)

Live or die, it doesn't matter. You can't lose, you learn something each time. You either keep playing or stop.

Dying over and over and over again to the same stupid enemies will probably be annoying, but dying is not failing, just forget being upset about losing all your souls, they don't matter, you can always get more.

Now, if the game isn't actually fun for you in between all the dying, I'd say don't bother. :) Games are supposed to be fun. :)

Have fun! :)

Thanks for taking the time to answer! I'll search for the Adaptability stat stuff before playing. You are right, if I don't have fun, then it's not worth it, but I'll eventually give it a try :)

Take care ^^

Well crap, I knew I forgot something. Sigh. Not a boobie garbage in sight. :(

If I feel sufficiently motivated I'll poke around for something, but nowadays Steam's flooded with 99 cent boobie garbage. There's no way to spot the real boobie games in that cesspool... Oh well...

Good luck! :)

It's funny though - when I tried to view the page https://www.savemi.com.au/product/code-vein-deluxe-edition/ just now, it didn't work. Wonder if the game was supposed to be region-restricted or something? Hope I still get my key... :)

I received the code for this giveaway @ gamebillet, but the preorder ultra-mega-boobie edition for myself @ savemi didn't come through after all. :(

It seems savemi managed to sell me a copy before they enforced the publisher's region-restriction, yay. When I sent them an email asking where my key was hiding, they said oops, my bad, you don't get to buy this after all. :( Then they (belatedly) refunded my money, so I bought one from Indie Gala instead.

Wonder what sort of preorder crap I missed out on... Oh well... :)

Well this is awkward, I had actually decided to remove my entry after the reviews came out (and because my current PC can't even run it right), but then some health stuff distracted me (3h sleep/night didn't help either) and totally forgot to do it. I'm gonna follow the rules and activate it once I get to my PC, I just feep bad for probably wasting this key when someone else might have really wanted it. Thank you though, it's just been rough and I'm all over the place.

Ahh, well, if you really don't want the game we could probably ask for a re-roll, but you know... I'd rather it goes to someone who thought about it and doesn't want to play, since they could always change their mind later... :)

Someone who's just greedy for free stuff will pretend to be excited about winning an expensive game, but they never install anything, all they do is sell the trading cards and enter the next giveaway... So now I don't bother looking, life's too short... :)

Hope you're feeling better soon! :) And don't feel bad about the key being wasted, maybe you will take a look in a few years or whatever... :)

The even dumber thing is that I briefly remembered yesterday but was convinced the train ended and I didn't win anything so no harm no foul, I actually thought to myself man am I glad I didn't accidentally win that specific game instead of someone who really wants it and then I wake up today and whoops :)). First win in 4 months and I can't even play it because of course I can't, what was I thinking.

Well, I'll activate in a bit and who knows, maybe someday I'll change my mind. Tnx for the well wishes, I need them for what's to come.

That was my original post at the Disco Elysium GA but then I thought maybe I revealed some hints without your consent so I deleted the last bit then post it in another of your invite only giveaways bla bla bla...

I will edit this back if it's ok with you

Thank you for introducing me a new game to add to my wishlist :)

Now what do I do with these 7 something somethings...

Edit: I think I know where these would take me to but I need one more something to go with the others also need to find where to put it and brute forcing didn't help me so far :(

Aha, hello... :)

Umm, there's only about 90 minutes left, so you probably won't read this in time... :) But it sounds like you're completely on the wrong track, so stop doing that. :)

There's no missing character to guess, the "=" at the end is actually enough to give it away, if you're familiar with that sort of thing. Otherwse, you're probably screwed and will have to get lucky with a random brainwave or google search... :(

The puzzle guide explains what's going on, but it's a long guide, and there's no telling precisely which part of the guide is the correct one... :)

Good luck... :)

Ooh thank you for mercy killing my hopes. It's would have been more frustrating to try and get nothing :)

Plus now I'm glad I did write it here than give others false directions...

Edit: I'm still listening that music by the way. Just can't get it out of my head :D
