SAO has a lot of haters, but also a lot of fans. I think you should give it a watch and decide for yourself whether it's good or not. It's not without faults, but I like it a lot, except for the last season of the anime which I didn't really enjoy.
Some of the best media is really divisive.
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Undertale. Hell there's even the pineapple on pizza thing. The trick is usually to not be a dick to those who like a thing you don't, even if it can be fun to gently prod a fan sometimes. >:3
The girls in Parasyte were great! I loved how they dressed like normal human beings, too. Comfy sweaters and the like. (At least in the modern adaptation.)

I loved Ichinose, too! Gatchaman Crowds was kind of a mess at times, but she was an awesome character. It's really nice to see the optimistic weirdo save the day.
