Some wads are absolutely fantastic, and there's full conversion ones that are brilliant. Aliens Eradication is probably one of the coolest ones out there.
One of my favourites has always been Going Down, fun as heck megawad.
Honestly for awhile I was addicted to just playing Doom wads for a few weeks, had many friends questioning why I was playing Doom for 40 hours straight, so much good stuff it's amazing.
I remember playing Doom almost nonstop, when my mom dropped me off with my grandma for a little while. I had nothing else to do, so might as well.
My entire family never got how I could be so nuts about a game.lol But yeah, there's so much stellar content for Doom. It's some of the very best FPS goodness ever.
I have a CD with a load of high quality wad files that were hand-picked by ID devs, and would totally play them with this version of Doom. I just need to find it. It's still packed up from my move. 😫
But if I can't find it, I can always download them from the 'net.
