Oh hmmm so many too choose from...
From my youth (ages ago), it was Marvel's Dracula in the comic books. He was evil in a way few are, self centered and powerful.
Later on I loved Lestat (from Anne Rice's) novels - especially her second book, he was a fun life loving undead....
Also I have always consideted Nosferatu as a truly dramatic and scary depiction of the vampire as a creature of darkness and death.

This is really more a question of "Who here has seen Buffy, and thus knows that Spike is clearly the best vampire?" than anything. :P

How about the whole Malkavian clan from the Vampire: The Masquerade?
I'm not allowed to play Malkavian in my group anymore... I kept breaking the players and gm (actually we only played Vampires once since I've joined the group... but I have a feeling I'm part of the reason we haven't gone back)
